Simon Says Stamp Good Luck Charm Blog Hop - Day 1

Today is the first day of a two day blog hop celebrating the new Simon Says Stamp release called Good Luck Charm. I blogged this card yesterday and you can see the blog post here.

Today I am sharing a "one stamp, five ways" using the new Printmaking Plants stamp set. I have a blog series where I use one stamp five different ways that I blog once a week and on the SSS blog once a month. Here are my five cards using this stamp:

After I show you the cards, I'll have all of the blog hop details at the end of this post! My cards use almost all of the new Pawsitively Saturated inks in the Series 3 set that was part of this release. I've also used many of the other products in the release - all are listed in the supply list at the bottom of this post. Warning: I went a little stencil crazy!

CARD 1:

My first card uses the new Layered Confetti Stencil set. I used several of the Pawsitively Saturated Ink colors in pastels including Seafoam, Carnation, Lemonade, and Limelicious. The way the stencil works, the circles overlap each other as they get smaller. You start with the largest circles first and then work your way through four stencils to the smallest ones, so I used a different color for each stencil. I thought they looked like birthday confetti, so I decided to make a birthday card. I die-cut this piece and attached it to a pink cardstock base.

I stamped the plant grouping from the new Printmaking Plants stamp set with black ink. I then used some of the Pawsitively Saturated Inks for the inside pieces. This was my first try, so I kept it very simple before I figured out how to do it. I used two colors for the pots as there are two sets of pot flat stamps - Marine and Bubblegum. For the plants, I used Limelicious and Sprout with the two different flat stamp areas. I cut around the group and attached it to the bottom of the card with foam tape behind it. I then used the Basic Box Card Happy Birthday die for the sentiment and attached that to the top of the card. I added some Berry Burst Nuvo Stone Drops around the plants.

CARD 2:

For this card, I started by die-cutting a rectangle using the SSS Slimline Nested Rectangle Dies (I use the largest one for almost all my slimline cards). I stamped the plant outlines from the Printmaking Plants stamp set with black ink on both sides of this piece. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I used a frame around the card made from a Hello Bluebird slimline die I had in my stash, but it could just be mounted on a turquoise slimline card base. 

I embossed a sentiment from the Clean Line Stacks stamp set in the release. I love how these sentiments are all long and skinny which worked perfectly between the two plant groups. It also comes with a set of matching dies, which I didn't use, but are so helpful when using sentiments! I used Ranger Garden Patina embossing powder which is the perfect teal color. Last, I added some Jewel Nuvo Drops in two of my newer colors - Honeysuckle and Iceberg Blue around the sentiment. 

CARD 3:

I used another one of the new stencil sets for this card from the release. This one is called Radiating Squares. I didn't use any Pixie Spray to hold the stencils down - I just used my fingers to hold it. That is why you can see the ink didn't stay where it was suppose to. I actually kind of like the messiness of it this way though! I used several of the Pawsitively Saturated Inks in blues, aquas and greens over each of the 4 stencils included in the set. It was so easy to line them up even for a novice like me! I used the smaller brushes by SSS for each color application. I die-cut the edges with the Lawn Fawn Just Double Stitching Die for some texture. 

I stamped the plant grouping outlines with black ink again. I used some of the new Pawsitively Saturated Inks in the Gradient 3 set for these images. I stamped the pots in Seafoam and Watermelon. I then used the three sets of new greens for the leaves: Trio 15, Trio 14, and Trio 13. I cut three of the pots out and attached them to a rounded edge stitched rectangle die by MFT. I stamped a sentiment from the Printmaking Plants stamp set below the plants with black ink. I attached that to the bottom of the card front. I added some Nuvo Drops in Vintage Bohemian Teal and Duck Egg Blue around the plants. 

CARD 4:

This card is really weird. I'm not even sure if I like it. It didn't get thought out - it just happened. haha But I do love the stamp set I used for the background and the technique I used, so let's start there! I used the new cling stamp called Wavy Circles and it is SO COOL (so much cooler than I expected!). I die-cut a piece of white cardstock with the SSS Mini Slimline Rectangle Dies (I always use the largest one for all my mini-slimline card backgrounds). Using my Misti, I taped this piece inside it after removing the foam pad. I then placed the cling stamp where I wanted it lined up to fit perfectly. I stamped it several times with different Pawsitively Saturated Inks. First I stamped it with Lemonade applied to all of the circles. Then I used Blush, Bubblegum, and Sprout ink pads by just pressing them in lines over part of each circle and stamping each color one at a time. I loved how it turned out. The inks blended giving it a really fun look. I want to try it again with different colors. 

I stamped the group of potted plants with black ink again. I used several Pawsitively Saturated Inks for the different parts of the pots and the leaves. I used different colors for each plant by just placing tCAhe ink pad on one area of the flat stamps. I love how you can really customize the look of these printmaking plants by changing the colors of ink for each area. I cut them all out and attached them over the crazy background. I then stamped a sentiment on a small stitched rectangle with black ink from the new CZ Well Wishes Stamp Set. I added some Nuvo Drops in Chalk Stick around the sentiment. I love this white because it is from the Vintage collection so it is very opaque unlike the glossy white. 

CARD 5:

I used another one of the new stencil groups for this background. This one is called Interlocking Circles and also comes with 4 different stencils that overlap each other completing the detailed design. This allows you to use 4 different colors of ink. I used some corals and pinks from the Gradient 1 set. I attached it to a white card base. 

I stamped the group of plants with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock die-cut with the largest square the SSS Stitched Square dies. I colored the plants in with colored pencils again. I love them with the printmaking flat stamps and colorful inks, but I also like the outline stamps colored in. I love how the stamp set lets you use both approaches. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set on the top of the square using WOW Gitty's Power embossing powder. I added some Party Pink Nuvo Drops around the square.
