I'm so excited because SSS just released their March card kit called Hoppy Days Ahead and it's all about SPRING! If you know me at all, you know Spring is my favorite holiday because well, I love everything about it! I love Easter, I love the weather, I love flowers, and most of all I love Spring colors (((oh and don't forget the bunnies))). Here is an image of the kit:
You can purchase the stamp set also called Hoppy Days Ahead by itself as well as a set of Hoppy Days Ahead matching dies (which do not come with the kit). You can also purchase them as a Hoppy Days Ahead bundle shown here:
Some of the other elements in the kit are also sold alone including the Mini Clouds and Masks Stencil set and the Lucky Green Mesh Bag.
Here are my five cards:
There are 6 pieces of double sided beautiful Paper Rose Wildflower Field 6x6 patterned papers in the kit. I die-cut one of the floral ones to fit on the front of a card base made with Lawn Fawn Guava cardstock. I colored one of the 2 watercolor cards that are in the kit (Suzy's doodles drawn by me) with colored pencils. I then cut it out right next to the outlines (no white border). I used some white Uniball gel pen on it as well.
I attached it to the front of the card with foam tape beneath it. I then added a sentiment from the Hoppy Days Ahead stamp set using a SSS Sentiment Banner Label die-cut from the same Guava cardstock. I used Ranger Extra Fine White embossing powder. I cut the sentiment label on one side to fit the sentiment. I attached that over the bird house. I added some Nuvo Drops in Party Pink around the sentiment.
I die-cut a rectangle using the SSS Nested Slimline Rectangle Dies (largest one) from white cardstock. I then stamped a bunch of the grass and flower stamps from the Hoppy Days Ahead stamp set with MFT Natural Ink. I bent the grass pieces to look like litttle hills using my Misti. I colored them all in with Copics including the sky. I used colored pencils to add additional shading to the grass. I colored the flowers and outlined the grass pieces with colored pencils before using Copics so they didn't bleed outside the lines.
I stamped all of the images from the Hoppy Days Ahead stamp set with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock and colored them in with colored pencils. I kept the bunnies white and just added a little bit of gray shading. I fussy cut all of the images out since I didn't have the set of matching dies. I attached them to the card front using foam tape behind the bunnies. I gave them puffy tails with Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops. I embossed two sentiments from the stamp set on each side of the top of the card using Pink Peony embossing powder. I used Sherbet Shimmer Glitter Drops over all of the hearts. I added some Chalk Stick Nuvo drops around the background.
This is the second "Suzy's Watercolor Cards" included in the kit. I die-cut it to fit on the front of a yellow card base. I painted some of it with my Daniel Smith Watercolors and used colored pencils on some of it. I actually would have painted all of it as I don't like the look of pencils on the grass area at the bottom, but I was in a location where it was easier to work with pencils, so I went the easy way. I usually use pencils over watercolors to add shading anyway.
I added Nuvo drops all over it - I used glitter drops over the flowers. I used Jewel drops over the eggs. I added solid drops to the center of the flowers. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set to the top of the card using Pink Peony embossing powder. I like that the stamp set has so many sentiments in it and many are not Easter specific. This one fit perfectly between the bunny ears. I added some Iceberg Blue Jewel drops around the blue sky.
This is my second card made with the gorgeous Paper Rose patterned papers in the kit. I die-cut an oval using the SSS Nested Oval Dies from the center of one of the papers. I then cut out the floral strips from both sides of another one of the papers. I attached some of the beige linen paper inside the oval. I then attached one of the floral strips inside the oval over the beige paper for the background. I attached a second set of flowers to the inside of the oval. I used foam tape behind the oval so the flowers were dimensional.
I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set on the center of the inside of the oval with Lawn Fawn Doe ink. I then stamped two bunnies (well three actually) on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I added shading to them with a gray colored pencil. I added tails using Cloud 9 Dream Drops. I used those as well as Moroccan Flame and Gold Luxe Dream Drops around the sentiment.
This time I made a mini-slimline bunny card with the cute stamps. I die-cut a rectangle using the Mini Slimline Rectangle Dies (largest one) and white cardstock. I then used the Seafoam Ink in the kit and the Mini Cloud And Mask Stencil Set in the kit and the little brush in the kit to make the sky. I attached the inside of the cloud stencil and then inked around it. I attached the big one again to the right side. I also added ink over them wanting them to be a lighter shade of the turquoise ink instead of white (I wish I had left them white BTW!).
I inked the bottom of the card using Fairway and Sprout Inks with the SSS Brushes. I used a piece of paper to separate the sky and the ground. I stamped all of the grass, flowers, and the bunny on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils. i cut them out with scissors. I glued them all to the background and used foam tape behind the bunny head. I embossed a sentiment with Pink Peony embossing powder over one of the clouds. I used some Chalk Stick and Aqua Plains Jewel drops over the background. I cut some of the fluff off one of the fluffy balls in the kit and glued it to the bunny tail.
That's it! There are many more cards on the SSS Blog to provide you with lots of inspiration! I hope you enjoyed this "one stamp, five ways' post using the darling Hoppy Days Ahead card kit by SSS. Thanks for visiting and enjoy your Valentine's Day week with your loved ones! Suzy
