I haven't posted a "one stamp, five ways" post in a while, so I got myself busy and got one done this week! Today I am using the Simon Says Stamp stamp set called Raindrops that was released in STAMPtember. It seemed like a good choice for the rainy season that will hopefully be here with Spring! Here is an image of the stamp set. There are not dies for this stamp, but I didn't need any as you will see!
Here are my five cards:
I die-cut a rectangle using the SSS Mini Slimline Rectangle Dies (largest one) for this mini-slimline card front using Neenah White Cardstock. Then I used the SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink Trio 1 which has the three tuquoise/teal colors in it: Seafoam, Surf, and Ocean. I stamped the half solid raindrops in the Raindrops stamp set with these 3 colors. There are 5 different sizes, so I mixed them all. I stamped them at an angle to show them used in a different way.
I die-cut a cloud from white cardstock using the SSS Rainbow Card wafer dies. I die-cut a banner and embossed a sentiment from the stamp set with Ranger Extra Fine embossing powder. I layered it with the cloud over it using foam tape behind both. I then added some PPP sparkling clear sequins.
For this slimline card, I first die-cut a large rectangle with the SSS Slimline Rectangle Dies using Ranger Watercolor Paper. I like this paper because it is VERY white and I have never been able to find another watercolor paper this white. I then did the arduous task of embossing the 5 solid raindrops over this piece with Ranger Extra Fine embossing powder.
Next came the fun part. I used my Daniel Smith watercolors (but Karin markers would also work well for this) and painted the background to be a rainbow. I had to wipe the raindrops off after the paint dried so they were white again. I mounted it on a white card base. I then embossed a sentiment from the stamp set on a white rectangle. I used three colors of embossing powder and just poured a little on the first time, then a little more in the middle and then the rest. I used Ranger Carnation Red, Sunflower and the Brights Mix (orange).
I used a mixture of the Pawsitively Saturated Inks from SSS for this card. I used a lighter color for the solids and then a darker color for teh patterns. It was fun to stamp in colors for once! I die-cut it and mounted it on a piece of A2 Holographic Rainbow Cardstock.
I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set on a blue banner with white embossing powder. I then die-cut a sun using the same Rainbow Card dies in two colors of yellow and layered them above the sentiment . I added some sparkling clear sequins.
For this card, I used the raindrops to make flowers. I die-cut a rectangle using the SSS Slimline Rectangle Dies from white cardstock. I then stamped the flower petals with Pawsitively Saturated Inks. I used a lighter color with solids and then a darker matching color for the patterns. I used matching sequins from the SSS Tropical Crush mix in the center of each. I was going to try buttons and pulled out ones that matched, but I just couldn't do it. They are so out of date hahaha. But they look cute in my photos!
I used a "Thanks" die by Simon Says Stamp, but I cannot find it on their website. I've searched and searched. So if you know what die this is, let me know! I cut apart the sentiment that said "sending showers of lover your way" so it could be used for a non-rain card and I embossed it with white embossing powder. I like altering my sentiments that way and I love using a stamp that is meant for one thing a different way so I can get more use out of it!
This was my favorite card and it got a little messy and because almost a mixed media background. I think I can call it that! I started with a piece of Ranger watercolor paper. I then stamped the raindrops with different colors of blue Distress Ink. I sprayed them with a Ranger Mini Mister using lots of water so the colors would all run on the background. I realized that the colors wouldn't run as much as I wanted, so I added some ink to the background with a paintbrush also. I lost some of the shape to the raindrops, so I restamped some with just the patterns. I also embossed some patterns in white here and there. It got really messy! Last, I splattered colored ink and white acrylic paint all over it! It was really fun to make!
I've had this little girl die called Rainy Days Wafer Die and it was perfect for this card! I die-cut it out of white cardstock. I then colored the pieces with Copics. I used Nuvo Drops in Blue Crush in the center of the umbrella. I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set with Forget-me-not embossing powder on a rounded rectangle die. I attached that to the bottom of the card front and then the girl above it with foam tape behind it.
I love this Raindrops stamp set and it was so fun to stamp with! I enjoy occasionally using flat stamps and colored inks and thinking of ways to use them differently. Coloring is my thing, so it's out of my comfort zone! Thanks for visiting today! I hope you enjoyed this "one stamp, five ways" post! Suzy
