You might have noticed that I primarily work with Simon Says Stamp products. But I also buy myself some of my favorite stamp sets every couple of months and try to find time to use them for blog posts too. I ordered this set a few months ago and finally got a chance to color it. It's my favorite - a floral bouquet which Gina K. Designs has quite a few of! I always want her stamp sets! This one is called Happy Bouquet. Here is an image:
I made a very easy one layer card just using the large floral grouping.
I stamped the floral bouquet on a piece of card size white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I colored it in with colored pencils. I usually use only one shade of pencil for a flower. But this time I tried to use both a magenta and a pink to mix the colors and give them more depth. I'm trying to improve my pencil skills. They are definitely my favorite coloring medium!
After it was colored, I die-cut it with a rectangle die and attached it to some magenta cardstock. Next I nervously embossed the large "Happy" at teh bottom using Wow Primary Ebony Black embossing powder. I was nervous because when I first started making cards (over 5 years ago), I remembered Jennifer McQuire saying on a video I watched not to use black embossing powder. She said to use black ink and then clear embossing powder over it. I think she said black embossing powder doesn't give you a good image. But it did! I really like the one I used and had no problems. I was happy it covered the flowers so well.
I used a fine tip black Micron on the insides of the flowers. Then I added some small dots with Black Board Nuvo Drops over each flower center. I stamped "you deserve to be" in black ink above the word happy after cutting it into three pieces. I also added some of my new Nuvo Windsor Wine drops (new color alert!). I added some black drops around the flowers and sentiments as well.
Oh my, I had so much fun making this card with the Happy Bouquet Stamp set. Now I want to color more flowers! And I want to order more floral stamp sets! It's an addiction I tell ya! I just ordered myself a set of Karin Decobrush Markers for my birthday from SSS and I'm so excited to try them out and show you the results! Thanks for visiting and have a great week friends! Suzy
