I have been making Valentine's Day cards like crazy. Maybe because I love making them! I've been doing it since I was a child and I love pinks and reds and love, so it's a favorite holiday of mine! Today I have a card to share with you using only Simon Says Stamp dies and has NO COLORING on it! I would like to say that means it was much faster to make, but nope! I pulled out my old embroidery flosses and went crazy stitching. I used to love to embroidery and do cross stitch, so this card was really fun to make! Here are some of the products I used:
I used a combination of the Love You Die, the Stitching Floral Heart Die, and the Dotted Heart Die all from the To the Moon release. Here is my card:
I started the card by die-cutting a mini-slimline rectangle from white cardstock using the SSS Mini Slimline Nested Rectangle Dies (a must have in my card making arsenal!), I then die-cut the new "CZ Love You" Wafer Die from white and red cardstock and I attached them together on the left side of the card. I find it easiest to keep the red one intact and then place the white letters over the red letters so it stays together. You just have to be careful not to punch through the bottom one.
Next, I die-cut the Stitching Floral Heart Die from a darker red cardstock. I stitched all of the designs in it using one strand of white floss. I felt like the shapes were so delicate that one strand would look best, but I could have tried two also. I then die-cut two of the Dotted Heart Die from pink and white cardstock. I used a full six strand of floss to make the French Knots on them. I attached them to a piece of white scrap paper and stitched through it. This made it so the French Knots didn't pull through the holes on the heart. I wound the floss around the needle twice to make the knot and then back down through the same hole in the scrap paper. After all the knots were done, I cut the scrap paper around the heart so it wouldn't show. The key to this was using the mixed media scrap paper (98 lbs.) under the hearts.
I attached the Love You to the left side. I then attached the three hearts with foam tape behind them overlapping on the right side. I liked that the foam tape held all of the thread in place so it didn't leave a bulkiness underneath them. I added some sparkling clear sequins around the hearts. I added a secondary sentiment with the new Reverse Sun and Moon Sentiment Strips. I also added some Chalk Stick W/hite and Red Berry Nuvo drops around the hearts and on the letters.
So there you have it. My first card with absolutely NO coloring and lots of die-cutting. And then I added all this stitching so that it wasn't a fast card, but definitely a fun card to make. I love the new stitching heart dies from Simon Says Stamp as stitching is definitely one of my favorite hobbies that I never make time for! Thanks so much for visiting today! Do you like making Valentine's too? Suzy xoxo
