Ok, this is not the norm for me - two days in a row I've made a Valentine's Day card using only dies for the main design. I did use a stamp set for the sentiment on this one though. In the To The Moon Release, SSS released two birds and one owl die that I had been "dieing" to use. I am so fond of birds! Plus, these dies would allow me to color yippee! Today, I have a card to share with you using the Layered Birdie die and the Heart Slider Die from the And Back Again release. Here are images of the two dies:
Interestingly enough, when I pulled up this die on the SSS Website tonight, I realized I colored it the exact same color which I thought was such an original idea haha. The Slider Heart die is meant to be a slider, but I've never made a slider card in my life and I didn't use it that way. Yesterday I posted THIS BLOG POST with another Valentine's Day card that uses the exact same color scheme and coloring technique. Here is that card:
And here is my card for tonight.
I made the heart yesterday when I made all of the elements on the other card which is why it looks the same. I die-cut the Heart Slider Die from white cardstock and colored it with Copic markers with the darkest on the top moving down to the lightest at the bottom. The four colors I used are RV00, RV11, RV19, and RV34. I then rubbed Red Sunstone Nuvo Drops over the heart - just a very little bit to get a light glitter covering. I applied Honeysuckle Jewel Drops over that to give it a nice sheen. I set that aside to let it dry.
Next, I die-cut the Layered Birdie die from white cardstock. I was trying to decide what colors to use on her/him. I decided to use pinks just to be different or unrealistic. Like I said, I saw the color on the advertisement image and realized I was being too original haha. But since I was making heart Valentine's Day cards in this color scheme, the pink worked nicely. I colored with the same colors of Copics and then added shading with colored pencils and then covered it with the same Honeysuckle Jewel Drops. I set that aside to dry. Next, I made the background. I used the CZ Simple Duo Stencil that has hearts on it. I attached it to the top of a piece of A2 white cardstock. I used Distress Oxide Inks and the SSS Brushes to apply the inks. I used Festive Berries and Picked Raspberry on top and then Kirsch Flamingo on the bottom. I die-cut this piece out and attached it to a reddish pink card base.
I attached the heart over the top of the card. I attached the bird inside the heart. Next, I embossed the sending love sentiment using the CZ Love Garden Greetings stamp and die bundle. I used Pink Peony and WOW Pink Lady embossing powder with the darker on top and the lighter on the bottom. I added that to the bottom of the card. I used a sentiment from the Reverse Sun and Moon sentiment labels. I applied Black Board and Pink Orchid Nuvo Drops around the sentiments. I also added a heart I had from another die and covered it with Nuvo drops as well.
After two days in a row with VERY PINK cards, tomorrow I have a blue card to share using the other bird die. I hope you enjoyed this Valentine and love this darling Layered Birdie die. Next time I am going to try it with more natural colors on it. And maybe I'll try making my first actual slider card with the Heart Slider Die! Thanks for visiting and see you tomorrow! I'm in a creating mood this week! xoxo suzy
