This week I have 2 "one stamp, five ways" posts to share with you (yes, I've been busy!). Today, I will be using the brand new SSS Limited Edition Happy Mail Love 2022 kit. Then on the 14th, I'll have another post with the regular monthly card kit. Here is an image of the Limited Edition kit:
The 6" x 8" stamp set as usual is sold alone and is also called Happy Mail. It is also sold with a set of matching Happy Mail dies. Or you can buy it as a Happy Mail bundle as shown here:
I didn't have the dies, so I did a bit of fussy cutting for my five cards, but that never bothers me (I actually weirdly enjoy it and definitely prefer the cost savings allowing me to buy more stamps!). My cards all use the new stamp set, but I also used the other elements in this kit.
My first card is a slimline because the stamp images in the Happy Mail stamp set are too cute NOT to make a slimline with! I die-cut a rectangle using the largest one in the SSS Slimline Nested Rectangle Dies. I then added clouds using the SSS Build A Frog Stencil. When making ink clouds I like using the Ranger Rounded Ink Blending Tools as they apply ink with no lines - perfect smooth cloud blending. I used Distress Oxide Inks in Speckled Egg and Tumbled Glass. I attached this to a white cardstock card base.
I stamped the rainbow and clouds and small heart in the Happy Mail stamp set multiple times using MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I outlined them with a fine tip black marker. I cut around them since I didn't have the dies - even around all the small scallops on those rainbows! I told you I like fussy cutting. I attached them all to the background leaving room for the sentiment. I used an MFT banner for the sentiment and stamped it with Intense Black Ink. I added some Nuvo Glitter Drops to the hearts. I also used some Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops around the sky/clouds.
This Heart Chain stencil came with the kit and is also sold alone. I attached it to a die-cut white rectangle using Pixie Spray so it was very flat. I used the new Pawsitively Dye Ink Pads in the turquoise trio called Trio 1. I used Seafoam in the center, then Surf, then just a little of the darkest color, Ocean. I attached that to the Raspberry cardstock that is in the kit as the card base.
I stamped the images from the stamp set with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I actually stamped ALL images in the set this way before starting any cards and colored them all. I ended up making a few extra for the slimline card and also having some left over. But I like doing the coloring first. I die-cut them out and attached them to the left side of the card. I die-cut the "I Think I'll Keep You" die in the kit from both the Raspberry cardstock and white cardstock. Luckily mine stayed together (even with a metal shim) enough that I was able to keep the Raspberry one intact and glued that down first. I then glued the white pieces over it so they stick up slightly higher. I just bought a new color of Nuvo Drops - I follow any new ones to make sure I have every color they make! It is called Windsor Wine and is a gloss, but acts more like a jewel. It actually matched perfectly, but when it dried over the blue, the color looks too dark. I love it though! I used it over the hearts and around the background.
I used the stencil again for this card background. I attached it to a piece of card size white cardstock. I used Pixie Spray and pushed the stencil down so it was attached really good. I then sprayed two colors of Nuvo Mica Mist Spray in Oriental Fuchsia and Pink Carnation. I let the first one dry and then sprayed the second one. The background ended up a little raised so it had a nice texture. But also some seaped inside the edges of the stencil, so I die-cut this piece when it dried with the PPP Notes and Things rectangle die to cut the edges off. I also die-cut one in white and attached that around it.
I used some of my colored images, but outlined them in black so they would pop more. I used two of the cloud die-cuts in the Doodlebug Lots of Love Ephemra set in the kit. I covered them with Nuvo Drops in glossy white and party pink and let it dry. Then I applied a layer of White Blizzard Glitter drops and this gave me the exact color as the background for the pink (if you don't have all of the glitter colors, just use this one which is clear with white glitter over all colors!). I also applied some glitter drops to pink areas of the stamped images. I used some of the Party Pink and Chalk Stick Nuvo drops around the background as well. I added a preprinted sentiment strip from the kit to the bottom which I die-cut with a stitched sentiment banner.
The Doodlebug 6x6 Lots of Love patterned paper pad in the kit is so cute, but I only used the papers on this card. At least I have lots left for future projects! I die-cut two of the papers with a rectangle die and attached them to a white card base. I then attached some of my stamped images that were stamped with MFT Natural Ink and colored with colored pencils. I attached them in a grouping to the top paper.
I cut a sentiment from the preprinted sentiment dies. I wanted it to reach across the card, so I added some more black to each side which you can kind of see if you look close (so don't)! I added some Chalk Stick Nuvo drops around the stamped images to finish the card.
My last card is a "random stamped background" card that I often make. I stamped all of the images in the stamp set with black ink on an A2 sized white cardstock rectangle. I then colored them in with colored pencils. I attached them to the light pink cardstock in the kit as a card base. I die-cut the colored piece with the SSS A2 Thin Frame Dies and also die-cut a pink frame from the same cardstock to use around it.
I die-cut a small banner from the same pink cardstock in the kit and stamped two sentiments from the stamp set on it. I attached it to the right side of the card and cut off the extra. I used some Party Pink Nuvo Drops around the background. I used a silver uniball pen over the metal parts of the bike and a white one over other parts of the images. I really love using the white one to color over mistakes on EVERY card I make!
That's it! I hope you enjoyed this "one stamp, five ways" post using the new SSS LE Happy Mail Love 2022 Card Kit. It was so fun to make these five cards and I have tons of supplies left to make more! Thanks so much for visiting and hopefully I will see you back on the 14th with the regular card kit "one stamp, five ways" post. Suzy
