Hello all and Happy New Year! I can't believe it is 2022! I haven't blogged in a while as I was busy with family time during the holidays. Today I have left the holidays behind and I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you. I wanted to make some Valentine cards, so I pulled out a stamp set from STAMPtember that I hadn't had a chance to use. It is called Furry Friends and is sold alone or with a set of matching dies (which I did not have, so I did lots of fussy cutting!). Here is an image of the set:
It looks like a stamp set that would be good for new baby cards at first glance. But then when you look at all the sentiments, you realize how many different subjects it could be used for. I made most of my cards for Valentine's Day as it lends well to this subject. Here are my 5 cards:
CARD 1:
I had this gorgeous paper from one of my previous SSS card kits and I don't know who makes it. It has a sheen to it and there are several rainbow pieces in the pad. I die-cut it with a rounded edge rectangle die and adhered it to a white card base. I also die-cut an MFT Stitched Rounded Edge rectangle die from white cardstock a bit smaller than the patterned paper. I attached that to the top of the card.
I stamped the large Hello and the sleeping kitty from the Furry Friends stamp set with black ink. I colored them in with colored pencils. I cut around the images, but you could also use the Furry Friends dies! I also stamped the longer strip in the stamp set with black ink and colored the shadow portion with a black colored pencil. I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set in it with black ink. I positioned all of these stamped images over the white rectangle. I then added some Nuvo drops around the images using Aqua Plains Jewel Drops, Iceberg Blue Jewel Drops, and Bohemian Teal Vintage Drops.
CARD 2:
I stamped many of the images in the Furry Friends stamp set with black ink on a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper. I used what I call my "random stamping" method where I arrange them like puzzle pieces all topsy turvy. I used the heart balloons and small heart images and all of the animal images. I wanted it to look like a Valentine's Day card. I used my Daniel Smith watercolors to paint it. I tried hard to leave it very messy and not paint it perfectly. I splattered some black and red watercolor over it when I was done.
I die-cut a frame using the MFT A2 Rectangle Frames from red cardstock and attached that over the card. I die-cut a banner for the sentiment using the SSS Word Mix 2 Dies from the same color of red cardstock. I embossed two of the sentiments in the Furry Friends stamp set with Ranger white embossing powder. I attached that to the bottom right side of the card. I added some Black Board Nuvo Drops on the banner and around it.
CARD 3:
I made this card first and planned on posting just it. But I felt like I could make so many more with this cute stamp set, so I decided to do a "one stamp, five ways" post with it after I made this one. I die-cut a piece of white cardstock using the SSS Slimline Nested Rectangle Dies. I then used the SSS Slimline Floral Stencil to make the clouds for the background. I used the Ranger Domed Ink Blending Foams to apply the Distress Oxide ink in Spun Sugar and Kitsch Flamingo which worked perfectly! You could also use the SSS Clouds for Days stencil for this look. I attached this piece to a white slimline cardstock base.
I stamped the images from the Furry Friends stamp set with Intense Black Ink and colored them all in with colored pencils. I used several of the balloons and hearts. I cut them all out and then attached the balloons and small hearts around the top of the card (running vertically). I used foam tape behind them. I used Ranger Glossy Accents over all of the balloons and portions of the animals. I added Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops on each balloon and heart.
I also stamped the word "love" and the two animals from the Furry Friends stamp set with black ink. I colored them in with colored pencils also. I cut around the edges and added these pieces to the bottom of the card again with foam tape behind them. I stamped the "and hugs for you" sentiment from the set on the bottom of the card with black ink. I added more of the Chalk Stick Nuvo drops on the bunny tail and around the sentiment.
CARD 4:
I decided to make a shaker card next. I used a piece of patterned paper from an older Heidi Swapp 6x6 pad I had in my stash. I die-cut that with a Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die. I die-cut a circle out of the top center using a SSS Thin Frame Circle Die. I used a transparency behind it and then foam tape behind that. For the inside of the shaker, I used the SSS Detail Tapestry Plate out of white cardstock. I filled the shaker window with all of the heart sequins I owned (most from Pretty Pink Posh).
I stamped the bear in the Furry Friends stamp set with black ink and colored him in with colored pencils. I also stamped some of the heart balloons and small hearts and attached them over the circle window. I stamped a sentiment with black ink on a white banner and attached it to the bottom of the card. I added one more small heart stencil to the right of the sentiment.
CARD 5:
I used a lot of patterned papers on these cards! This time I used a piece of Doodlebug paper from a past card kit (again, I'm not sure which pad it was from!). I die-cut another MFT Rounded rectangle die out of the center of the piece. I cut it to fit on the front of a mini-slimline card. I attached this piece to a white card base.
I stamped the two animals and three balloons from the Furry Friends stamp set with black ink. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I attached the three balloons over the white portion of the card with foam tape behind them. I used matching twine as the strings for each balloon. I attached the two animals to the bottom of the card as if they were holding the balloons with foam tape beneath their heads. I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set on a white banner using the SSS Sentiment Label Dies. I attached one portion to the top of the card and one to the bottom of the card under the animals. I added some Nuvo Drops in the same colors around the balloons.
As you can see from these 5 cards using the Furry Friends stamp set, this set can be used in all kinds of ways! There are so many sentiments in it that I didn't even use. I especially love the two large words (hello and love) and the two sentiment blocks to stamp sentiments in. I'll be able to use those for other cards/sentiments as well. I think this stamp set is definitely worth the money spent for all of the uses I have already found using it! I hope you enjoyed this "one stamp, five ways" post and I'll be back soon! Happy New Year! Suzy
