It's time for ANOTHER Simon Says Stamp release and this one is moving forward to the day of celebrating all things love called TO THE MOON! I know most of us are thinking of all things Christmas right now, so this may be jumping the gun in your mind space. We won't be doing a blog hop for this new To The Moon release for this reason yet, but there will be one in January. I have a new set of watercolor cards in this release called Suzy's Valentine Love Watercolor Cards. Here is an image of the set:
Just a reminder: All of my watercolor sets (and there have been a lot of them after about 5 years now!) can be seen HERE. They come in sets of 12 with 2 prints of each of 6 designs. They are printed on Ranger Watercolor Paper which works with any coloring medium or all at the same time! They are 4.25" x 5.5" in size which is a standard A2 card size. Some have greetings on them and others you can add your own making them work for any occasion you want! I'll give you some tips for coloring them in my directions for each.
Today I have 3 of the 6 to share with you and tomorrow I'll be back with the other 3.
I die-cut the watercolor card using the SSS A2 Thin Frame Dies - if you use the largest one, it cuts just the right amount off of your cards to show about 1/8th" on each side (I just discard the frame). I used my favorite Lawn Fawn Guava cardstock to mount this one on. I watercolored the hearts using my Daniel Smith watercolors. These were about as easy to paint as any of my cards have been! I used a gray colored pencil to add shadows behind the hearts and the letters to make them pop.
I die-cut one of the new dies called Dotted Heart from Guava cardstock and white cardstock and attached that over the center heart. I used Chalk Stick nuvo drops over areas of all of the hearts. I also added some sparkling clear sequins.
I used the SSS Imperia Plate wafer die for the background of this card with white cardstock. It was part of the Diecember release. I then cut around the edges of this heart watercolor card. I colored it with colored pencils.
I attached it over the background with foam tape behind it. I used some of the new sequins from the Sweetheart Sequin Mix and some sparkling clear sequins around the heart. Cutting images out of the watercolor cards gives you the chance to use pretty die-cuts like this one, embossing folders, or even patterned paper for backgrounds.
I die-cut this one with the largest A2 Thin Frame Die again. It gives it a nice bordered edge and makes it just the right size to attached to a card front with a color to frame it. I painted the hearts in with Daniel Smith watercolors. I had to do two coats to get enough color to make them this dark. I mixed the colors where the hearts overlapped. I like how the watercolors make them look sheer.
Next, I used the new Stitched Heart Die in the center of the middle heart. I ran it through the die cut machine which gives it all of the dots for cross stitching it. I used 2 strands of white DMC embroidery floss. I love how pretty it looks stitched! I die-cut the new CZ Trio of Love Wafer Dies for the sentiments. I die-cut each word out of white cardstock twice and then glued them together so they had more dimension. Before I attached the words, I flicked white acrylic paint over the hearts. I laid the stitched heart die over the stitching so I didn't get white paint on it. I also added some Chalk Stick Nuvo drops around the hearts and some Holly Berry Jewel drops.
Like I mentioned, I'll have the other 3 on my blog tomorrow night so you can see all 6 colored and made into cards. You can see the entire TO THE MOON release here and my new set of Valentine Love watercolor cards here. Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season! Suzy
