Today is the release of the Simon Says Stamp January 2022 card kit (2022, are you kidding me?!?!?!) called Warmest Wishes. Here is an image of the kit:
As usual, I like to focus on using the stamp set which is sold alone and is also called the Warmest Wishes Stamp. It is also sold with a set of dies as a bundle. Here is an image of the bundle:
You can also purchase the embossing folder called Faceted Snowflakes alone or the Scattered Snowflake stencil alone. I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using all of the elements in this kit. Here we go!
CARD 1:
My first card is a slimline card because how could I not make a long scene with all of these cute images in the Warmest Wishes stamp set! I used the SSS Slimline Nested Rectangle dies for the card front (which I use on almost every single slimline card I make). I die-cut a piece of white cardstock with the largest die in the set and then I used the MFT Stitched Snowflake dies to cut two strips off of this piece for the ground. I die-cut one of the patterned papers in the kit with the same die, but since the paper is only 6" wide, I had to cut a second piece to use on the front of the card. I used a tree stamp over the seam between the two pieces of paper. I attached the background to a white card base.
I stamped all of the images in the stamp set with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I stamped two sets of the little snowflakes and two sets of the trees, so I used some of my colored images on another card, plus had plenty for this scene. I used a white Uniball over the bottom of the tree limbs to mimic snow. I then covered those spots with Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops. I glued all of the stamps to the background and then used foam tape behind the top portions. I had to fussy cut as I didn't have the matching dies. I used a silver Uniball pen for the gift bows and other elements. I used Steel Navy embossing powder for the sentiment over the paper and used a second smaller sentiment on the snow. I added Chalk Stick Nuvo drops around the background for snow as well. I also attached some snowflakes around the sky that were outlined with the silver Uniball.
CARD 2:
My second card is a shaker card. I wanted to make a card with just the tree stamps so you could have one that wasn't as "cutsy" and more "outdoorsy". I just made up two words haha. I made the front panel with a piece of SSS Holographic cardstock. I used the SSS Thin Frame Nested Circle dies for the circle. I used one of the papers in the kit for the inside of the shaker window. I filled it with PPP clear sparkling jewels, sparkling clear sequins 3mm and sparkling clear sequin mix. I also added some PPP sparkling clear snowflakes. I added the transparency underneath the holographic piece and then glued the white circle frame over it. I used foam tape beneath this piece.
I stamped all of the images with two sets of trees with Intense Black Ink on white cardstock also and colored these images in with Copics. I ended up using ALL of my images on these five cards from the pencil set and the copic set. I'm glad I stamped two sets of trees with each! I attached two of the trees to the inside of the window and the largest one over the window on the front of the card. I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set with Intense Black Ink on a banner made with an MFT banner die. I attached that to the bottom of the card. I added some of the snowflakes stamped with black ink over the window as well. I used Chalk Stick white nuvo drops over the window and banner and Diamond Stickle drops around the background to finish the card.
CARD 3:
This time I used the embossing folder included in the kit called Faceted Snowflakes. I rubbed WOW embossing ink all over the flat side of the embossing folder. I then poured WOW Misty Sky embossing powder over it and embossed. it left the snowflakes white and the rest of the background is blue. If you have any areas that don't look white on the snowflakes, you can just color over them with a White Uniball. I made two hills using the SSS Slimline Snowbank Dies. I attached them overlapping two over the embossing folder image for the front of the card.
Wherever the snowflakes didn't show up well enough on the background, I used a white Uniball to fill them in. I used some of my stamped images with the MFT Natural Pad colored with pencils. I tucked the tree and two snowmen underneath the hills using foam tape underneath the top of each and glued the bottom directly to the card. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set using Rustic Wilderness Embossing Glaze. I used Pink Champagne and Red Sunstone Nuvo Glitter drops over the buttons on the snowmen. I outlined the snowflakes with a silver Uniball and attached them to the sky.
CARD 4:
I used the Scattered Snowflakes stencil in the kit for this card. I first die-cut a rectangle from white cardstock using a rectangle die that is one size smaller than a card front. I then used Pixie Spray on the backside of the stencil and attached it over the cardstock rectangle. I spread the SSS Seafoam Glitz Glitter Gel over the stencil using a palette knife. I love this background - it is so pretty and sparkly and has such a cool texture. Now I want all the colors in these pastes! I let this piece dry and attached it to a white card base.
I die-cut an oval from white cardstock using the SSS Nested Oval dies. I embossed the "season of love" sentiment on the bottom of the oval using Nuvo Turquoise Lagoon embossing powder which matched the paste perfectly! I used two of my snowmen that were stamped with black ink and colored with Copics. When I colored the images, I used all of the colors in the papers. So this guy is holding a navy blue package which doesn't really match. Oh well! I also embossed one snowflake to the top of the oval to continue this teal color on the top. I added some Jewel Nuvo Drops in Aqua Plains (a must have color - love it!).
CARD 5:
I feel like some of my cards look a lot alike, but I think it's because I used the same snowmen on 4 of them as I did try to create different scenes with different techniques on each using all of the kit contents. For this card, I die-cut a piece of the patterned paper in the kit in a rectangle to fit on the front of a white card base. The papers in this kit would ALL look good as backgrounds for snowmen, so it was hard to decide which ones to use. That is why I colored all of my images in the color scheme that matched the papers as I planned on using them quite a bit. I made snowbanks with white cardstock and the SSS Slimline Snowbank Dies. I attached them over the blue paper.
I used some of my trees and snowmen that were stamped with black ink and colored with Copics. I arranged them over the hills and tucked the trees underneath the snowbanks. I created two more snowbanks with the line stamp and just cut at a slope around the bottom edges. I attached them over the bottoms of the snowmen. I then used Chalk Stick Nuvo drops over the bottoms covering the seam where they attached. I thought of using the stamp directly on the actual snowbank and cutting above it with an X-acto knife which would also work. This way was easier! I used some Chalk Stick Nuvo drops around the background as well for snow. I stamped the greeting on a small banner I had by Hello Bluebird. The smaller banner in the SSS Word Mix 2 also worked and let you stamp the larger greeting on it instead if you liked it better. I like how it looks up at the top hanging like that. I used Nuvo drops over the snowman buttons again. I used Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops for snow on the trees.
BOOM DONE! These posts always take so long to type and I sit and wonder if anyone reads them. I guess I will never know. Since I don't do video's (why not?!?!?!) I like to be very specific in my directions. I just don't know if that is helpful to anyone. I bet most people just scroll and say bye bye. haha. Thanks for visiting and I hope you all have a great week and are having a happy holiday season! If you are interested in this kit you can find the Warmest Wishes Card Kit here and all of the other products I used in this post are listed below. xoxo suzy
