I have had this darling stamp set from MFT called Happy Llamadays for a couple months now and I couldn't wait to use it. I love Llamas and Christmas Llamas are the BEST Llamas. Here is an image of the stamp set:
I wanted to try something different and because they looked like they were meant to be in the dessert (the cactus!), I decided to stamp them on Neenah Desert Storm cardstock. I thought it would be fun to color them on this khaki colored background. I went with a slim-line design so I could fit them all on one card!
I started by stamping all of the images in the Happy Llamadays stamp set on Neenah 100 lb. Desert Storm cardstock. I used MFT Natural Ink and it still showed up on the cardstock. my plans were for these to have no outlines, but things took a turn! I colored them with colored pencils. I find Prismacolor pencils work the best on colored cardstock. I also like using Caran d'Ache Luminance. Both are more waxy then other pencils, so they adhere better.
I used a white Uniball gel pen for the white llamas and for all of the other white items on the designs. I liked how bright it was. After they were done, I ended up outlining them with a black Micron marker as I thought they looked like they needed outlines. I die-cut them all out with the matching set of Happy Llamadays dies.
I used a Hello Bluebird slimline die for the background. I liked how it had 3 separate areas for me to put the llamas in. I used a Gel Press and Distress Oxide Inks for the sky areas. I used more of the same Neenah cardstock for the ground. I arranged all of the elements on the background areas with foam tape under the top of each. I stamped the sentiment (which I had to cut into 3 pieces) with Lawn Fawn Doe ink. I added the black marker to that as well so it would pop better. I used the small star stamp in the set on each sky area and colored in with a silver uniball.
Looks like a nice simple card, but it may have taken me a bit of time! I do love my colored pencils though. We have been watching Ted Lasso, so I've had a bit of time to color as I watch. Multi-tasking always multi-tasking. Tomorrow I will start my shopping! Hope you like these Happy Llamadays as much as I do! Merry Christmas friends! xoxo suzy
