I haven't posted in almost a week! I've been busy decorating my house for Christmas and it takes me forever. It is such a process for such a short period of time, but those 3 weeks are just magical in the house! I wish it could look this way all year! Today I decided to make a Christmas card, so I pulled out one of my favorite stamp sets from this year called Season of Joy. It was in the Limited Edition Holiday Card kit (which is sold out), but it is also sold alone with or with a set of matching dies. Here is an image of the set:
I made this one layer slim-line card with just the stamp set as I don't have the dies. Here it is:
I started this card by embossing the large floral stamp in the Season of Joy stamp set on a piece of Ranger Watercolor Paper cut to slimline size. I hung the stamp off the top of the paper a little and used Antique Gold embossing powder. After it was embossed, I die-cut it with the largest slimline rectangle die in the SSS Nested Slimline Rectangle die set.
I painted it using my Daniel Smith watercolors. For a while all I was using was my Karin Brushmarkers to watercolor, but now I am back to my Daniel Smiths. They give you a softer less intense color and are easier to move around. I always appreciate their quality. I love watercoloring embossed images because all of the color stays in the little well you create with the embossing powder! Which means it is hard to color outside of the lines! After it dries, I always go back in with another coat of paint to darker the darkest areas. I can't always get enough shading my first time around. I then went crazy flicking paint on it. I used the Finetec Mica Watercolor Pearlescent Paint set - I flicked about every color in it over the card. I used a small paint brush and a large paintbrush for different size splotches. I also splattered some red watercolor over it. I went splatter crazy! I LOVE that paint set for Christmas cards and use it all the time - the colors are so pretty!
I embossed a sentiment using the SSS Holiday Greetings stamp set. I had to cut the two words apart and then I lined them up perfectly using my Misti tool. I embossed them with the same Antique Gold Embossing Powder. I mounted it on a piece of Lawn Fawn Guava cardstock and attached it to a white card base. I used Mustard Gold Nuvo Drops in the center of the flowers and around the background because I felt like it needed just a few more splotches! haha
When this Limited Edition Holiday Card kit was released a few weeks ago, I did a "one stamp, five ways" post using this Season of Joy stamp set. The blog post is HERE if you want to see 5 more cards with it. I realized JUST NOW as I was looking back at that blog post that I made a card so similar to this one I am showing tonight! Here it is! I guess great minds think alike hahahaha.
That's it for tonight. I have another card I made today to share tomorrow night using a poinsettia AGAIN! I seem to be using them a lot this season or maybe SSS has a lot of them on their stamp sets this season! I hope you enjoyed this card using the Season of Joy stamp set and thanks so much for visiting. Have a holly jolly holiday season! suzy
So pretty
