Today is the first day of a two day blog hop celebrating the new SSS Handmade Holiday release. This release is full of winter embossing folders and they introduced a line of glitter gels that are amazing (used in this post so you can see!) and they have a second set of dye ink pads plus much more! I'm excited to share some creations with you today using the new release. Here is the banner which includes 3 of my cards front and center which made me really happy (joyous christmas, joy, and the silver snowflake card I'm showing you today).
There are a few things I want to show you before I share my new cards. They re-released my Suzy's Holiday Tags watercolor card set and added in a set of dies that work with them. I designed them to go with the SSS Large Tag Dies. They are included in the bundle that was just released you can see here or you can buy them alone or together without the tags.
I showed the colored images made into tags on two blog posts last month HERE and HERE if you want to see all of the instructions on how I made them. Here is an image with all 12 in it. Keep in mind you will get 2 sets of these, so you can make a total of 24 tags. You can buy them without the dies and just cut them out as I added cut lines for both tag shapes.
Yesterday I posted a card using the new Holly Branch Embossing Folder and the new Etched Berry Branch Wafer Die. You can see that blog post HERE.
Yesterday, I also posted some photos of the new ink pads and a color chart I developed using them. I thought it might be helpful to some of you to see the colors stamped. This contains the colors from the first 12 pack called Gradient 1 and from the new 12 pack called Gradient 2. I stamped each color twice. The first star is stamped once and the second star is stamped twice so the color is darker and more saturated. You can see ALL of the colors in the SSS store HERE. They are sold in two 12 packs or in sets of 3 or individually.
Ok, NOW I will show you my two new cards both using the Snowflake Visions embossing folder.
I used Ranger Watercolor Paper cut into a A2 card size for the card front. I sprayed it with Nuvo Sparkle Spray in Marine Mist. I rubbed embossing ink on the raised part of the Snowflake Visions embossing folder so just on the snowflakes themselves. I then ran it through my die-cut machine 3 times and then embossed it with white embossing powder. This made all of the snowflakes white - cool, huh? I'll be honest. Some of them weren't all the way white. So I used white paint and a small paintbrush to fix them. It (((might))) have been a bit time consuming. I'll get better at the embossing portion of this process! You have to get the ink ALL over the raised portions to do it right. I cut this piece to be smaller and attached it to an A2 Frame Die by MFT die-cut from the SSS Silver Matte Cardstock.
I used the Dainty Snowflake Wafer Die for the first part of this snowflake. I rubbed the new Surf Glitz Glitter Gel on the frame of this snowflake and let it dry. I used glitter glue on the white part as well and attached it to the top. I then die-cut the new Harmony Snowflake die using the Matte Silver cardstock again to match the frame and attached that to the top of the other two snowflakes. I used a PPP silver jewel in the center. I used a preprinted "let it snow" sentiment from the Brr Sentiment Strips set. I also added some sequins from the new Glittering Snow set.
This card is made in a very similar manner. This time I actually did a better job with the embossing powder though! I started with SSS 120 lb. cardstock and I rubbed the embossing ink on the raised part of the Snowflake Visions embossing folder. I embossed it by running the paper through the die-cut machine three times. I then poured Nuvo Silver embossing powder on it. You can see that the snowflakes that are silver go in, not out, so it is the indented portions that are embossed. This is the first time I have used embossing powder with my embossing folders and I was really happy with the way it turned out. BUT I did have to use a silver Uniball to fill in and widen areas that were not covered by the silver embossing powder.
I matted this on a silver frame again. I then die-cut a Sentiment Label die and embossed a sentiment with the same silver embossing powder on it using a sentiment from the Snowflake Edges stamp set. I used some sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment. I used three snowflakes layered with the Huge Felicity Snowflake Die cut from matte silver cardstock on the bottom. I then used the new Aurora Snowflake Die with white cardstock. And last I used the Harmony Snowflake Die with Matte Silver Cardstock again. I used a silver jewel in the center.

That silver and white embossed card is absolutely glorious. I had to re-read the instructions 3 times because looking at the picture it doesn't look like the silver snowflakes are the debossed side! Amazing.
