Today I made a pumpkin card to share with you! I used a new stamp set from the Simon Says Stamp Peace On Earth release called Let the Gourd Times Roll. There is the stamp set and a matching set of dies or you can buy it as a bundle. Here is an image:
I also used a die called Thankful For You from the STAMPtember release. I have already used it on about 4 cards as it is so perfect for Fall cards. Here is an image:
And here is my card. It's a mini-slimline design. It took me so long to figure this one out. I'll explain why as I go.
First, I stamped ALL of the images in the Let the Gourd Times Roll stamp set on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I stamped doubles of a few of them. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I tried to vary the colors of the pumpkins as my Trader Joes has some of every color in this range. My photos kind of washed the colored pencil colors out a bit unfortunately. Next came the hard part. I planned on making this into a slimline design. I was going to use this Lawn Fawn Scalloped Frame which is made for a full time slim-line card and white cardstock on top of it with the pumpkins on that. But the white just didn't look right. So I tried about every single Fall sentiment die possible in all different colors trying to make myself happy. Nothing did. So it sat on my table for a few days waiting.
Today I was looking through my Gel Press prints for card backgrounds and I saw this one (note: it's also a little washed out here). I put the pumpkins on it and was immediately happy as it was just the right amount of color for the background and looked so much better than white. Also, I liked the size better, so my card became a mini-slimline and I just layered more of the pumpkins. I die-cut the piece with the largest rectangle in the SSS Slimline Nested Rectangle Dies. I rubbed several colors of distress Oxide inks on my Gel Press and used a brayer to move the colors around. I actually pressed a cling background stamp over this one as well, so it has a nice texture. This is the second print so it is a lot softer than the first print. I love my Gel Press backgrounds and I need to make more of them as I've used almost all now. I cut the frame down by just trimming off the last scallop at the end and then cut the leftover piece down and attached it behind the other one. I attached the gel press print over it.
I arranged all of pumpkins around the front of the card using foam tape behind it. I then die-cut the "Thankful For You" die out of several colors of cardstock for the sentiment. I layered the yellow, cream and burnt orange and glued them to the top of the card. I just realized that I totally forgot to add any last minute details that I always add and over do hahahah. No Nuvo Drops on this card! I was going to add them around the pumpkins. Interesting - much more plain than my usual. Trying to decide if I like that or not!
Thanks for visiting my blog and checking out my card if you are reading all this. I always wonder if anyone reads my words. I use a lot of words. I should use less words. haha Have a great weekend and keep on creating - it's good for the soul! And check out the Let The Gourd Times Roll stamp set with matching dies if you like this card! Thanks, Suzy
