Today is exciting. Simon Says Stamp has a new release full of all kinds of holiday goodness called Peace On Earth that just dropped! If you are like me, that means your money is about to drop too haha. For the next two days (Friday and Saturday), there will be a blog hop celebrating this new release. I'll be here with a post on Friday. But today, I wanted to celebrate the release with a post as well. I have a new set of Watercolor Cards in this release called Suzy's Holiday Tags. Here is an image:
This set is a little different than any of my other sets of Suzy's Watercolor Cards. I turned them horizontal and drew two tags on each of the 4.25" x 5.5" cards. This means you have 12 tag designs x 2 prints of each, so 24 tags in total! Hopefully that will cover all of your gift giving! All you have to do is either a) cut around the outside edges or b) buy (or maybe you have) the SSS Large Tags Wafer Dies. I drew the lines around the tags to fit just outside these tag dies (as the dies are solid). I thought it would be nice to be able to cut them out with a die that many of us may already have. It also cuts the circle inside the top or you can use a hole punch for a circle if you cut the tags out by hand.
I have painted/colored all 12 of the tags. I'm sharing six of them with you tonight and then I'll have the other six with a bunch of photos of all of them together tomorrow during the blog hop day 1. So let's get started with the first few. I used the tag dies when making mine.
Each of my photos will show the watercolor card on the top and then the two images on the bottom. I also show the die I used to cut them out. The die set comes with a round circle for the top, so I used that to cut my circles as well. I painted all of the tags with my Daniel Smith watercolors and then I used some Glitter Pens and Uniball gel pens as well as colored pencils to add shading and details.
This tag was one of the few (3) that already had a greeting. I'm glad I left greetings off most of them as there are so many options for greetings in the new release that I was excited to try out on these so I'll tell you what I used on each. I think this one was my favorite of all 12 as I love that wreath. I used a lot of colored pencils on this one to get depth and because the images are so small, that the details were easier to color with pencils. I also used Nuvo drops around this one and almost all of them to decorate! I used Copper Penny in the center of the flowers.
I used the new Snowflake Edges stamp set for the greeting on this one - isn't that greeting so cute?!?!?! I used mostly pencils on this one and a silver glitter pen. I used Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops around the outside of the image. I think using a gray pencil on the edges of the white areas gives it a lot of depth.
Again, this image shows the actual watercolor card I used for these two tags and the Tag Die I used to cute them out. Just to re-interate, you can cut around the lines instead. I made them really light and thin so they would be easy to cut out and wouldn't show on your final tags.
I love this Santa one and will probably need a lot more of this one for grandkid presents! I painted him to get a base on it and then I I used pencils on it again to shade. Using gray on the white areas as mentioned above really make them pop. I used Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops around the card. I stamped a sentiment using the new stamp set in the release called XL Christmas Greetings. It primarily has big greetings on it, but there are a few little ones that are perfect for these small tags as well.
I colored this one with pencils and then used a Silver Uniball Gel Pen for the tops of each light. I then used Nuvo Glitter Drops over each of the lights. I used a preprinted Label Die for the sentiment from one of the new sets in the Stamptember release called Reverse Merriest Christmas.
This is the third of the six watercolor cards. You can see the card on the top and the two colored finished ones below. Again, I painted them with watercolors first and then added a lot of shading with pencils. This is NOT a necessary step, but I like using pencils as you know and with all the small details on these tags, they worked really well. Fine tip markers would as well!
I used Nuvo glitter drops over the red berries and the candle wick. I used red drops around the sentiment. This is one of the cards that had a sentiment already printed on it.
Like I said, I painted this tree and then used a green pencil for shading (only one color needed - the beauty of pencils!). I used a Silver Uniball gel pen for the star and ribbons on the packages. I used glitter drops over most of the packages. I also used them on the star and the ornaments. I used a preprinted sentiment strip for the greeting - the set is Love Peace Joy.
That's it for today. Tomorrow I will have way more photos of all of the Suzy's Holiday tags together as well as the other six colored. So come on back to see them all during the blog hop day 1 (Friday am). You can see the entire SSS Peace On Earth release here and all of the products I used on the card above are listed in the supply list at the end of this blog post. Thanks so much! Suzy
