Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post using the BRAND NEW Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit called Cozy Wishes. Here is an image of the kit:
The stamp set in the kit is also called Cozy Wishes and is sold alone like usual. I focused on using the stamp set as much as possible since I call this series "one STAMP, five ways", but I also use all of the other products in the kit and not much more so it could be officially called "one kit, five ways", but now I'm starting to get confusing haha. You can also purchase a matching set of dies here. And there is a Scandinavian Christmas embossing folder in the kit that can be purchased alone. Here are my five cards:
CARD 1:
The first thing I did is what I always do - I stamped all of the images from the Cozy Wishes stamp set on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored them with colored pencils. Then I stamped them all with black ink and colored them with Copics. But then the Copics were hard to shade on such little images, so I ended up using pencils on those too for extra shading. I cut all of these images out (no dies for me!) and I used them on all of my 5 cards. This mailbox was colored with Copic Markers. I used a piece of the patterned paper in the kit that is a green color and die-cut it with a rectangle die. Then I die-cut an oval out of the center using the SSS Nested Oval Dies.
I embossed the sentiment (had to cut it apart) on a transparency with Steel Navy embossing powder. I had never embossed on a transparency before, so this was new for me. It took two attempts as I tried using the little powder static thing and that left residue on the transparency. So I did it again without and the embossing powder stuck to too many places. I tried it again and it worked better. The embossing powder looks much lighter when you emboss it on a transparency. I created a shaker card with Pretty Pink Posh clear jewels, 3 mm sparkling clear sequins, and snowflake sequins. I attached the mailbox to the front. I glued some of the same 3 sequin types to the front of the card.
CARD 2:
For this card, I die-cut a rectangle with the largest Mini Slimline Rectangle die out of white cardstock. I then attached several strips of the Scandi Christmas patterned paper to the rectangle and trimmed them off the edges. I cut out the poinsettia flowers from one of the papers and attached that to the bottom between two strips of paper. I attached two of the birds I stamped with black ink and colored with pencils to the top of the flowers. I also attached a stamped heart in between them.
I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set with Steel Navy embossing powder on the blue paper strip. I tied a piece of Lawn Fawn Coral Cord twine around the top of the card front and then I glued it to a white card base. I used Mustard Gold Nuvo Drops over the centers of the poinsettias and Chalk Stick ones around the sentiment.
CARD 3:
I die-cut a rectangle with the green and blue patterned paper. I then used the new Slimline Snowbanks die on the green piece to create a hill. I used some of my colored images that were stamped with MFT Natural Ink and colored with colored pencils. I used a silver Uniball gel pen over the mailbox flag. I tucked the mailbox under the center of the hill and glued several of the berries and leaves around the post.
I used two bird images, a note image, and five heart images to complete the scene. I used Nuvo Ruby Slipper glitter drops in the center of all of the hearts. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set on the bottom of the hill with Steel Navy embossing powder.
CARD 4:
I started this card with the new Scandinavian Christmas embossing folder in the kit. I used SSS 120 lb. white cardstock - the extra thickness makes the 3D images more dimensional. I lightly spray it with a Ranger Mini Mister bottle filled with water before I emboss it. I also run it through the machine 3 times - all things I learned from a Tim Holtz video as I had no idea how to use an embossing folder a few months ago haha. I cut this piece down and attached it to a red card base. I cut a piece of the wood grain patterned paper in the kit and created another hill with the Slimline Snowbanks die and attached that to the bottom of the card front.
I used images that were stamped with MFT Natural Ink and colored with colored pencils. I used foam tape behind each of the bird houses and candle holder stand for dimension. I added some of the plants and berries around each wood post. I hung one of the little hearts from the bottom of the candle holder and two yellow birds to each bird house. I used Ruby Slippers glitter drops on the hearts and Yellow Bird glitter drops on the candle wicks. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set with Carnation Red embossing powder.
CARD 5:
As previously mentioned, I didn't have a lot of experience with embossing folder before SSS started carrying them. I've tried using ink in them successfully by rubbing it on the flat side several times. I decided to see how it worked rubbing ink on the images that stood up this time and the result wasn't what I expected, but it made sense! I thought the images sticking up would have ink, but obviously it was the opposite of that - the images had ink in them where they were recessed. But I liked it and now I have learned another way to use these folders! I used Evergreen Distress Oxide Ink as it matched the papers well and applied some to the edges as well with my SSS brushes. I cut two strips off one of the papers and attached them to the bottom of the embossed card front.
I used some of my stamped images that were stamped with black ink and colored with primarily Copic markers! I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set with black ink on the smallest die in the SSS Sentiment Label dies. I attached that over the paper strips. I used Ruby Slipper glitter drops over the hearts AND berries this time!
And interesting thing about this Cozy Wishes stamp set I want to point out. Before I gave it much thought, I stamped all of the images and started coloring them. In Spring colors. Then I looked at the papers and the embossing folder and remembered it is time to be making holiday cards, not Spring cards hahahaha. I could have made a Spring card to show the versatility of this stamp set - it really can be used for all different seasons! It even has sentiments that work for non-holiday uses! I ended up coloring over my colored images to change them to winter colors which works when using colored pencils! I hope you like this SSS November Card Kit called Cozy Wishes which is now up for sale only until the stock runs out! Thanks for visiting today and have a great week friends! Suzy
PS: I just remembered that the kit came with a Berries and Leaves stencil which I completely forgot to use on my cards - ugh I really like it too! I might have been able to step one of these cards up a bit! Supply list below!
