Todays STAMPtember Simon Says Stamp collaboration is with Whimsy Stamps and is called Just Chicken In. This stamp set is definitely the funniest stamp that is part of this month's collaborations. I love the cute images and the greetings are so funny. You can buy the Just Chicken In stamp set alone or you can buy it as a bundle with dies included. Here is an image:
I thought all these chickens were so cute and somewhat small, so they would make a good "random stamped" background card. I haven't done one of these in a while and I forgot how much I love them. As previously mentioned, I love puzzles, so doing this type of card is kind of like putting a puzzle together! Here are images of my card:
I started with a 5.5" x 4.25" piece of white cardstock. I then arranged all of the chicken and rooster images from the Just Chicken In stamp set around each other (this is where my expert puzzle making skills come in!). I used black ink this time. This is actually my second attempt as the first time, I had the images too close together. They need a little space or they look crowded and too busy.
Next, I colored them all in with colored pencils. I kept my color scheme small (blacks, yellows, and oranges) so it wouldn't look to busy. After I colored them, I outlined them again with a black fine tip marker (and made some mistakes!). I think my black ink needs a re-inking as many of the eyeballs weren't dark enough. Also, colored pencils go over lines and make them less black and not show up as well. The only problem with this is my lines are messy, especially around the eyes. So my chicken's look a little wonky!
I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set with white embossing powder on a strip of burnt orange cardstock that matched the card base. I love this saying - it is so funny. I used some black and white Nuvo drops around the sentiment and around the card too.
