Today's Simon Says Stamp exclusive collaboration set is with Memory Box. It is a beautiful 4x6 stamp sold alone or with a set of matching dies called True Friend. As always, this is an exclusive set that is only sold until supplies are gone and it will not be restocked. Just a warning as the last two collaborations have already sold out (within a day). Here is a link to all of the collaborations for STAMPtember. And here is an image of the set:
I made a card with the True Friend stamp set that is one layer, so I didn't use the dies. You can see a bunch more cards using this set on the SSS Blog today.
I embossed the large floral design and three of the single flowers around it with white embossing powder on Arches watercolor paper. I painted them in with my Karin Brushmarkers as I wanted the colors to be very vibrant. I wanted them so vibrant that I ended up using colored pencils over them to make them even darker and more shaded.
I used the markers to add color around the flowers as well. And this is where things didn't go very well. I realized that green and pink wouldn't mix well and I tried to keep them in their areas, but they did end up mixing a bit where they hit each other. And I didn't like that color at ALL! So I tried to blend it with a white colored pencil over those areas. I also added a little yellow paint to the background to try to make it better. Lesson learned - don't do a background wash with just pink and green hahaha! I still don't like it, but I spent a lot of time on it and couldn't throw it out at this point! Oh and I also added flicks of green and pink all over furthering the problem (just to come completely clean!).
I embossed the two sentiments from the stamp set on the top and bottom of the card (trying to hide some of the green haha) using WOW Primary Pink Robin embossing powder. I added some Ruby Slipper Nuvo Drops and some White Nuvo Drops around the images. I used a white Uniball to put dots inside each flower center. I also used the white uniball to draw over any of the white embossed lines that didn't look clean and white after painting.
That's it for today. You can find all of the SSS STAMPtember Collaboration stamp sets ON THIS PAGE. You can find today's set by Memory Box called True Friend here at SSS. Thanks so much for visiting and enjoy the STAMPtember party all month long. Suzy
It came out fine. I think it is a beautiful card. In my opinion when color that don't blend well get together they make a shadow of sorts. Beautiful card!
