Simon Says Stamp has a brand new limited edition Halloween Kit called BOO DAY that was just revealed as part of STAMPtember. It is full of Halloween goodness that is so cute it made even me happy who hates Halloween and anything scary or dark. The stamp set is also called Boo Day and is adorable! Here is an image of the kit:
I have my first "one stamp, five ways" post for quite a while using this kit. I primarily focused on the Boo Day stamp set which is sold alone if you prefer to just buy it (it is darling!!!). Several of the other components of the kit are also sold alone including the Batty Boos paper pack, the Mummy Wrap stencil and Funky Eyes stencil, and the Little Boo die. I've used quite a few of these items in my cards below as well as the stamp set.
CARD 1:
I started this card using my "random stamping" technique to create my own patterned paper. I stamped all of the small stamps in the Boo Day stamp set with black ink on white cardstock like a puzzle (don't put images too close together though or it will look too busy and take too long to color!). I colored them in with Copics which went really quick and I added gray shadows below them - I may stop using pencils as I'm realizing how much faster Copics are to use! I didn't plan on covering any of this piece up, so I didn't need to color in as many images as I did though! I die-cut this piece with a stitched rectangle and attached it to an orange card base. I cut out a piece of the striped patterned paper from the Batty Boos 6x6" paper pad in the kit and attached that over the center of the background.
I stamped 3 of the pumpkins in the Boo Day stamp set with black ink on white cardstock and colored them in with Copic markers. I used a white gel pen to add highlights. I fussy cut them out which is something I love to do - I know I'm crazy! I adhered the three over the patterned paper. I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set on a black banner and attached that above the pumpkins. I added some Chalk Board Nuvo Drops around the sentiment.
CARD 2 (TREAT BAG):
I used the Funky Eyes stencil over the smaller kraft gift bag in the kit. I used texture paste with a pallet knife to apply it. I adhered the stencil with Pixie Spray once on the bottom of the bag and again on the top of the bag. I kept the texture paste really thick. I let them dry and then applied Black Gloss Nuvo Drops to the center of each eyeball and let that dry (it got a little messy goops).
I stamped the ghost image from the Boo Day stamp set on white cardstock and colored it in with Copics and cut it out. I embossed a sentiment from the Boo Day stamp set on a piece of aqua cardstock and attached that and the ghost image in the center of the bag. I tied some of the twine that is in the kit around the bag.
CARD 3:
I made the background of this card with Distress Oxide Inks and the stars in the Boo Day stamp set. I started by applying the inks to a piece of white cardstock with SSS Brushes. I used three colors of ink keeping it lighter in the center and moving to darker colors around the outside: Stormy Sky, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Saphire. I die-cut a ground piece and colored it with gray Copics. I adhered that over the sky. I stamped a bunch of the stars over the background with Hero Arts White Ink. They faded a little so I added some Glitter Nuvo Drops in White Blizzard over each star. I also flicked some white gouache over the background.
I stamped a bunch of the images from the Boo Day stamp set on white cardstock with Intense black ink. I then colored all of the images in with Copic markers and fussy cut them out. I adhered them to the background using foam tape behind some for depth. I embossed the sentiment over the stars with white embossing powder. I added a few white Nuvo drops around the sky.
CARD 4:
I used the Mummy Wrap stencil in the kit for this card background with the Crypt Grit Paste also in the kit. I die-cut a slimline rectangle using the largest die from the SSS Slimline Rectangle Dies. I then attached the stencil over this white rectangle with Pixie Spray on the back of it. I rubbed the Crypt Grit Paste over it with a fairly thin coat. I love the black spots in this color! I let it dry and attached that piece to a black slim-line card base.
I stamped the ghosts from the Boo Day stamp set on white cardstock with Intense black ink and colored them with Copic markers. I used Kaiser Craft glitter pens to decorate them. I attached them over the background with foam tape. I added some Nuvo Drops in purple, teal blue, and lime green to match the colors I had used in my coloring to the background. I accidentally set something on top of the card before they were dry, so I had to add some strategically place purple dots in weird places to fix the mess.
CARD 5:
I used the Mummy Wrap stencil in the kit for this card as well. Again, I die-cut the largest rectangle from the SSS Slimline Rectangle Dies out of white cardstock. I attached the die to it with Pixie Spray. This time I used the Ranger Grit Paste in Snowfall which is pure white. I mixed some Twisted Citron Oxide Ink in it to color it. I might have gone a little too wild with the color as it looks so bright in this image anyway (not as bad in real life!). I flicked some ink over the background using Peacock Feathers and the new Salvaged Patina color. This only made the background more crazy! I attached it to a white slimline card base.
I die-cut three of the Little Boo Wafer Dies in the kit and added some details to them with Copics and eyeballs I received in a recent card kit that were just the right size! I attached them to the front of the card. I die-cut two small rectangles using the SSS A2 Thin Rectangle Dies from two colors of cardstock. I embossed the sentiment from the Boo Day stamp set on each with white embossing powder. I used Nuvo Aqua Glitter Drops in the center of the hearts. I added some white Nuvo drops around the background.
I wanted to make one more thing that I wish I had been able to do, but I'll tell you and maybe you can try it if you buy the kit! the kit has these little black and white twisty sticks in it - you can see them in my photos inside the pumpkin. They look really cute with the Little Boo Wafer Die on top of them. I stuck two of the wafer dies together so they had a front and a back and then tucked the stick inside the bottom. They would be perfect to stick on top of cupcakes. I wanted to get some so I could show you, but I didn't know where to get cupcakes!
