As you probably know based on where you came from, we are in the middle of a STAMPtember party at Simon Says Stamp!!! If you haven't visited the Simon Says Stamp blog yet, start there to get links to all the participants and there are a lot! The inspiration will be running wild today and I think this STAMPtember 2021 release deserved it! I've never seen as big of a release from Simon as this one! Yesterday I posted this card using the new Big Day stamp set which is my absolute FAVORITE stamp in the new release. You can visit the blog post to see directions and more images HERE.
One of the products in the new STAMPtember release is a set of Suzy's Watercolor Cards (that's me) called Welcome Autumn. Here is an image:
If you aren't familiar with these sets, they are printed on Ranger Watercolor Paper and there are 12 prints, two of each of the six designs above. You can use watercolors or any other coloring medium on this paper or all of the coloring mediums together as I usually do! They are meant to be used as card fronts, so they are each 4.25" x 5.5". All you have to do is add a sentiment and there are LOTS of Autumn sentiments in pick from in the release! Now I'll show you three of them colored and made into cards. I've used some of the other new products in the release on each as well.
CARD 1:
I started by watercoloring the pumpkin watercolor card with my Karin Brushmarkers. I added some shading with colored pencils and used a white Uniball to add white lines on them. I then cut around the pumpkins and leaves right to the edges of the design. I used a black marker to color the edges so no mistakes or white areas showed. Next I went a little crazy with the background!
I wanted to try out the new Peel Apart Leaves cling stamp so I used it for the background of this card. I stamped it as just one piece (even though it separates into several) with Intense Black Ink on Ranger Watercolor Paper. I then painted it with my Karin Brushmarkers. I flicked some paint all over it as well. I die-cut it to fit on a green card base. I then used foam tape behind the pumpkin image and attached it over my busy background! I used a banner from the Word Mix 2 dies and embossed a sentiment from the new Painted Leaves stamp set using Leaf Green embossing powder. I used Glitter Nuvo Drops over the leaves along the edge of the pumpkins. I used Golden Sunset and Bottle Green drops by the sentiment.
CARD 2:
I colored the fox on one of the watercolor cards with colored pencils. I liked the shading they gave me and I like how the pencil strokes look like fur. You can use any medium to color on Ranger Watercolor paper as the cards are printed on the smooth side. I cut Mr. Fox out around the edges and used a black Copic around the edges to make sure they were all equally black. I stamped the new Interlocking Leaves cling stamp with black ink and watercolored them with Karin Brushmarkers. I die-cut that piece slightly smaller and attached it to a yellow card base.
I attached the fox to the front of the card with foam tape behind him so he would stand out from the busy background. I gave him eye balls with white and black Nuvo drops. I put the white on first and let it slightly dry and then I do a black drop in one corner and push it into the white. I love using this method for eyeballs! I used the new Thankful For You die for the sentiment and also used foam tape behind it. I just love how it looks in two colors of cardstock. I used some Copper Penny and Black board Nuvo drops around the sentiment.
CARD 3:
I decided not to cut these leaves off this card haha (impossible!). I die-cut it slightly smaller than a card base. I then watercolored it with Karin Brushmarkers. I used several colors for each leaf. I painted the background with the sky blue color by wetting it first and then tapping my paintbrush on the tip of the marker so I didn't get too much color. I then held the marker over the card and tapped on it with my watercolor brush to splatter color over the background. I love how the markers give you such intense color - that's why I always use them! I attached it to a burnt orange card base.
I used Nuvo Glitter Drops over all of the leaves. I love that I have ALL the colors, so I could really blend colors to match the ones I painted with. I used a sentiment from the same Painted Leaves stamp set and again used a banner from the Word Mix 2 die set. I embossed it with white embossing powder. I attached that to the top of the card. I used some Autumn Mix sequins around the sentiment and some Nuvo drops in Bottle Green.

These are WONDERFUL! I just feel thrilled when seeing your creations. The watercolor card sets are one of my favorite items to buy. But if I tried to "go crazy" on a background like you did, mine would be unflattering to put it gently 😆 Keep the beauty coming!!

Your coloring, no matter the medium used, is always beautiful. I was gifted a box of Karin watercolor markers for Christmas. I have tried several times to use them, but have never liked the results. Can you give me some advice? Do you use water with them? Put water on card first? Color a little, then add water? Any advice would be appreciated.
