Today is the release of the new Simon Says Stamp 2021 Card Kit called Sunshine Flowers. Here is an image of the kit with all of the contents:
What I love the most about this kit is it comes with TWO 6" x 8" stamp sets both gorgeous floral designs! Because I like to do "one stamp, five ways" posts, I am only using the Sunshine Flowers stamp set for this post (disclaimer I did use one greeting from the new Sunflower Garden stamp set on one card). I will be using the Sunflower Garden stamp set for my guest post on the SSS blog on August 30th also a "one stamp, five ways" post. Today's post also uses all the other components of the kit including the gorgeous patterned papers, the washi tape, the black letter stickers, the happy birthday die and the cardstock. Many of these kit elements are sold alone. Here is an image of my 5 cards together:
CARD 1:
The first thing I did is stamp all of the images in the Sunshine Flowers stamp set with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock. I colored them all in with colored pencils and then fussy cut them out (although there are matching dies which would have been great to have). Then I have those images to use on cards. I ended up using almost ALL of them on this card except for the jar which I'll show you on another card. These images worked so well with pencils. For this card, I first made the background with a white card base and three of the papers in the kit all cut to be the same size and layered on the card front. That created a perfect background for my stamped images.
These papers are so gorgeous and the interesting thing is I didn't even look at the colors before I colored all of these images. They just matched perfectly! I layered all of the pieces in the stamp kit except for the floral jar, so the large piece is in the center and then I used a flower and a leaf branch under the side on each side of the main stamp. I die-cut the "happy birthday" die in the kit from the green and pink papers and glued two together so they have more dimension. I attached them to the top of the card and added some PPP clear jewels around the sentiment.
CARD 2:
The card kit comes with a page of black sticker greetings. I used the page as it came by just cutting off the two bottom rows. It fit perfectly on a card front! I used the other image I colored with pencils above for the front of this card. I used foam tape to attach it to the center of the background.
I stamped the "miss you" sentiment on the banner with black ink. I added some Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops and some PPP sparkling clear sequins around the image.
CARD 3:
I used Arches watercolor paper for this card. I die-cut a piece with the largest rectangle in the Mini Slimline Rectangle dies. I embossed the flower grouping on the top of the card at an angle with white embossing powder. I then used the flowers in the jar to stamp a few more floral images in the corner above this grouping to fit in that open space. I used the large floral grouping along the bottom corner as well. All of my flowers were embossed with white embossing powder. I then painted them all in with Daniel Smith watercolors. I wanted just a little more pop in the shadows, so I used a couple colored pencils to add some shading.
Once the card was done, I stamped this sentiment from the stamp set on cardstock about 100 times. I tried different embossing colors and different inks trying to get a perfect color and a perfect print. The embossing powders made it too difficult to read the words as the text is very thin. I tried different ink brands and ended up happiest with the SSS Watermelon ink - it gave me a good print and it was the perfect color for the Lawn Fawn Guava cardstock I used. I cut around the edges and attached that to the center of the card. I added some PPP Watermelon Jewels around the sentiment.
CARD 4:
The papers in this kit are just gorgeous. I hated to cut into any of them and when I used the solid ones on my first card and the last card, I had to lose the pretty florals on the other sides of the solids. I had to use this one though because it had a somewhat mellow print that worked nice as a background. I die-cut it to fit on a card front.
I stamped the jar image with black ink and colored it in with colored pencils. I used the Liquid Pearls Brass drops in the kit around the label and on the label of the jar as well as on the background. I also used some Nuvo Drops in Rhubarb Crumble which matched my cardstock perfectly! I stamped the "many thanks" sentiment in black ink and cut around the edges. I attached that to the bottom of the card.
CARD 5:
This card ended up looking a lot like my slimline card as I used the same papers for the background. I cut a piece of the bright pink and the yellow and layered them on a white card base. I used the Ranger gold washi tape over the seam between the two papers. I stamped the large floral grouping with black ink and cut it out. I colored it in with Copic Markers.
I attached the flowers with foam tape behind them over the washi tape between the two papers. I then die-cut the "happy birthday" die that came in the kit with the green solid patterned paper. I attached that to the top of the card. I used a small sentiment from the xxx stamp set (only time I touched this set since i am saving it!) for a sub-greeting below the big one. I stamped it with black ink. I added some Nuvo Drops in Rhubarb Crumble and Bottle Green around the sentiment.
That's it! This Sunshine Flowers kit is so gorgeous and I really really love the two large stamp sets in it. Stamps are my jam and ones that have florals you can color are my favorite, so two sets were just the best kit ever! I used the Sunshine Flower stamp set for this "one stamp, five ways" post and I will be using the Sunflower Garden stamp set for a guest post on the SSS blog on August 30th. Thanks so much for visiting today! Suzy
