Weirdly enough, in my little area of the world, it was very cloudy today with NO sunshine. In fact, I think we might have gotten a little drop of rain. Considering I live in Southern California, I expect hot days at this time of year. So what did I do about this turn of events? I made a sunshine card so I felt better and didn't have to call my therapist. I used the Shine On Cling Stamp from the SSS Rainbow release. Here is an image:
When I saw this stamp in the Rainbows release, I wasn't sure I was going to use it. I like to be honest, so I'm just being really honest here. I thought the smile was a little too much for me. I don't like suns with faces usually. Maybe I'm weird. But when I made the card, I fell in love with the face and now I love it. It just needed a little color on it! Here is my card and I'll let you decide if you like the final project face or not!
I stamped the Shine On cling stamp with Intense Black Ink on Arches watercolor paper. Any time I plan on using my Karin Brushmarkers to watercolor, I use this paper as they work best on it for me. They bleed a lot of some other papers I've tried. I positioned the sun a little to one side so it wasn't centered - not sure why, but I like "her" this way. Mother Earth - does that equal Mother Sun?
I painted the sun first using my karin brushmarkers. I have used my yellows so much the ink is halfway gone which is shocking. Anyone know if they are sold by color somewhere? I bought the full set of 60 and some don't get used much at all. I used a coral pink for the mouth and cheeks and blue for the eyes. The result was that I loved her face! I painted the background with pinks, oranges, and yellows tried to make it look like a sunset - not sure I achieved that though. Hard to do even when taking a photo - I can never capture the beauty!
I used the Lawn Fawn Just Stitching Rectangle die for the outside edges of the card front. I used the SSS Slimline Marquee dies for the sentiment die-cut from both cream and guava cardstock. I layered the letters on the bottom of the card. I used some Tonic Crystal Glaze over the sun and the sun rays which are really shiny if you could see them. I love this stuff! I used some other Nuvo Drops around the sentiment. When I was finished, I felt like I had adequately scolded the sun for not shining!
Thanks so much for visiting today! If you are lacking in the sunshine department, try out this Shine On cling stamp from SSS and I guarantee you will enjoy her face as much as I do. She definitely brightened my day! Suzy
