Today i have a card to share with you using an older Simon Says Stamp set that I loved then and I still love now. I think I've pulled it out 3 times to make a card with it. It is a simple one, but it packs a punch! I love images that are "sketchy" haha - that look like sketched lines around them. Maybe that's why I often stamp in a light ink and add my own lines so I get that sketched look. This one comes this way! It's a 4x6" stamp and it's called Sketched Lotus Flowers and it has a matching die. Here is an image of them together as a bundle:
And here is my card. I should look back at the last couple cards I made with it to see it they look the same!!! But I don't think mini-slimline cards existed back then, so the shape should be new anyway.
I die-cut a piece of white cardstock with the SSS Mini-Slimline Rectangle Dies (largest one) from white cardstock for my background. I applied Distress Oxide Inks to it in blues, greens and pinks to make it looks like a flowery field blurred. I didn't do a great job with the blending on the pink on the left side, so I should have used the new Ranger Mini Doomed Ink Blending Foam as it allows the inks to go on so smoothly with no harsh lines. I attached the background to a white card base.
I stamped the Sketched Lotus Flower stamp with black ink on white cardstock. I colored it in with colored pencils. I die-cut it with the matching die. I also die-cut another 3 out of white cardstock and I glued them all together to create some depth in the image. I usually just use foam tape, but this looks kind of cool this way! I attached it to the card front.
I stamped the Thank You sentiment from the stamp set with black ink on a stitched banner by MFT. SSS Doesn't carry this one, but they have a similar one called Boxed In Banners. I used foam tape behind the top piece and slipped the tabbed edges underneath each edge. I added 3 sparkling clear sequins.
I love when I can make a card in less than an hour. This one went really quick. Ok, maybe it took more than an hour with the coloring, but I do that to TV at night in bed, so it is just my recreational time! It was very quick to color though. And who doesn't need more "thank you" cards?!?!?!!? You can find the Sketched Lotus Flower bundle here if you are interested.
I hope you are all having a great May. I've been away from card making quite a bit due to my house renovation going on. I live in dirt and have no kitchen, but things are starting to take shape, so it is getting very exciting (even if I am covered in white dust full time). I was very happy to actually get a card made today! My goal is to make one each day this week, so I will be back! xoxo suzy
