Today is the release of the Simon Says Stamp June 2021 Card Kit called Rainbow is My Favorite Color. I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you today using the kit. I think I used every single item in the kit this time even though I always try to focus on the stamp set. The stamp is also called Rainbow is My Favorite Color and is sold alone if you don't want to buy the entire kit. Here is an image of the kit:
I think I love this kit so much because I love rainbows. My cards came together so easy. I usually prefer stamps that allow me to color in their images, but for some reason, I really enjoyed working with the flat stamps in this stamp set! I also really liked the 4 cubes of ink by SSS in the kit and I used them for all of my cards. They cover so well! I need to break out and use inks more often. Here are my five cards:
This is my favorite card as I love the big rainbow with all of the jewels on it! I started by stamping the four rainbow pieces with the four SSS ink pads in the kit. I used my Misti so I stamped each one about 3 times to make sure they were dark and fully covered. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them at this point! I trimmed off the edges and realized they would fit nice on a standard size A2 card base in the center. I cut off two stripes from the striped paper in the kit for the top and bottom of the card. I attached the rainbow piece in-between them.
I started placing the rhinestones in each rainbow color with no idea if I would have enough of it they were spaced properly to end at the right place. I got lucky! I had just enough for the red one and a few left of the blues since that part is smaller. I had to respace a few of them, but it was fairly easy as they don't stick down enough to tear the paper. I love love love how they match the four colors of ink and they loos so sparkly! I stamped the clouds with MFT Natural Ink and then used a gray pencil to add shading. I used a fine tip black marker to add little lines and dots around each one. This gave me a softer look than if I stamped with black ink as I did for most of the other cards. I also stamped some of the hearts in the stamp set on the clouds using the same inks. I stamped a sentiment on the largest cloud with black ink. I used foam tape behind the clouds where they weren't overlapping the rhinestones. I added some sparkling clear sequins to finish it. d
CARD 2:
This was the last card I made, so I tried to use any of the kit items I hadn't used yet. I had lots of the pretty Doodlebug papers left and the Doodlebug epoxy stickers left. I started by cutting a piece of the plaid paper and some of the stripes to cover the front of a white card base. I left the top open and used 5 of the little rainbow stickers on the top. I put hearts between them and clouds along the bottom. I was determined to use the whole sticker pack!
I stamped the four clouds with black ink and cut them out. I embossed the sentiment on the largest cloud using four colors of embossing powder so it looked like a rainbow of letters. I used the Ranger Bright Embossing Powder set and Sunflower embossing powder for the yellow. I stamped the words twice with WOW embossing powder. Then I poured the pink on first just on the edge of the words. I shook off the extra and then poured some yellow on the halfway mark with the paper facing downwards so I wouldn't get it on the remainder of the greeting. I poured the last two colors on the same way. I love how it turned out! I put foam tape behind the big cloud and attached all of the others tucked underneath the edges of it.
CARD 3:
This is one of those cards that looks so much better in person! It was hard to photograph. I used the Build a Rainbow stencil in the kit primarily for this card. I attached it to the front center for the circle and used Distress Oxide Inks in Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed with the new domed applicators in the kit - they work so well! I used the lighter color all over and the darker color just around the edges. I then attached the stencil for the first sunbeam and used the same two colors with the darker just on the outside edges. I moved it around the sun to add all of the sunbeams. I got lucky that they actually fit first without any mistakes! Then I drew inside the circle and the sunbeam 15 times with a pencil on masking paper. I cut them all out - it was fairly quick since the sunbeams were just 4 straight lines. I removed the backing and covered all of the sun. Next, I came in with the clouds for the background using the cloud edge of the stencil. I used the Audrey Blue ink pad in the kit - that blue is my favorite color of both ink and cardstock. I moved it down as I went so there were several layers of clouds showing behind the sun. I removed all of the masks and loved how it turned out. Very worth all those snips on the masking paper!
I covered the sun with Yellow Bird glitter Nuvo Drops using a heavy coat (and a tiny bit of gold to the end of each beam) and set it aside to dry overnight. I was surprised it didn't crack at all as the jewel colors crack. I stamped some clouds with black ink again and cut them out. I stamped the greeting from the stamp set on a white banner with black ink. I attached the inked piece to a yellow cardstock base. I attached the banner and clouds with foam tape behind them. I used some sparkling clear sequins and some of the blue jewels in the kit on the clouds. I also added some Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops around the greeting.
CARD 4:
There is a darling little Hello Rainbow Wafer Die in the kit that is also sold alone. I cut it out of white cardstock six times and glued two together three times. I colored the rainbows in with Copics and used a white Uniball to clean up any areas I wanted white so there were white lines between each as there are in the die-cut design. I cut a piece of the cloud paper in the kit to fit on the top of a white mini-slimline card base. I attached the three rainbows to the front of the card running vertically.
I stamped three of the little clouds with black ink and cut them out. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on one of the clouds with black ink. I attached the three clouds over each rainbow with the sentiment in the center. I added some of the jewels in the kit to the top and bottom cloud. Such a simple card and I love how quirky it is!
CARD 5:
I started this card by stamping the 3 sized hearts in the stamp set over and over on a piece of white cardstock using the four ink cubes in the kit. This time I only stamped them one time as I didn't want the colors too dark. I had no idea what I would do with this background. One time one of the hearts fell off as I was stamping it and I ended up with a red heart on top of a blue heart. i wasn't going to start over so I figured out a way to hide it. I cut this piece down so I could mat it on the super cool holographic rainbow paper in the kit. I was able to get 2 A2 card fronts and one slim-line card front cut from that one piece of paper so I can use it for the front of 3 cards. I cut off most of the mistake and hid the rest under the greeting.
I stamped the smaller rainbow pieces with the four colors of ink again. I have used them for everything and I love these four colors together! I stamped the clouds and cut them out. I attached the rainbow with foam tape behind it to the center of the card. I stamped the sentiment on the largest cloud which required cutting it apart. I also stamped some hearts on the clouds again using the same inks so everything matched perfectly. i attached the two clouds below the rainbow. I added some sparkling clear sequins.
Now that's a lot of rainbow goodness! I love rainbows so much because I love love my color and also because they represent happiness or new starts to me. Seeing actual rainbows is rare in my parts because we don't have a lot of rain here (thus all the fires in CA), so making rainbow cards has to suffice! Thanks for visiting today and I hope you like this Rainbow is My Favorite Color card kit as much as I did! Have a great week friends! xoxo suzy
Your cards alone convinced me to order this kit. Just wonderful. Thank you!
