I love cutesy stamps. I love fairies. I love nature and flowers. I love lots of color. So when I saw the new Doodlebug Fairy Garden line, I fell in love! It is so cute and whimsical and perfect for making cards with my grand-daughter. The 4" x 6" stamp set is called Fairy Garden and it also comes with a matching set of dies. Here is an image of it:
Cute, huh? I've never purchased their stamps before, but I have used them when they are part of a SSS special edition kit or card kit. And I always love them! I wanted to use ALL of the images in the set on one card, so I went with a standard slim-line size 3.5" x 8.5".
I made the frame first using the SSS Chunky Slimline Scalloped Rectangle Dies out of turquoise cardstock. I made a white card to go behind it, but instead of making it the regular slim-line size, I made it smaller than the scallops so the white border wouldn't show. I like these scallops being the border of cards. I also die-cut the Hello Bluebird die called the Gallery Frame #5 Die (not carried by SSS, so you have to buy it direct). I cut two of them out of white cardstock and just used the inside frame gluing both together for extra depth. I glued that over the scalloped card base.
Next, I took the three inside pieces of the frame die and I rubbed Distress Oxide Ink on them in Squeezed Lemonade, Spun Sugar and Kirsch Flamingo. I don't know why, but I wanted a yellow and pink sky/background, so I just rubbed some of both colors here and there with the new Ranger Domed Blending Foam (love these so so much!). I attached those inside the frame so I had three little areas to decorate. I stamped all of the images in the Fairy Garden stamp set on white cardstock with Intense Black Ink. I colored them in with colored pencils and die-cut them all out. I made two of each of the accessories images including pretty much everything but the fairies. I always like to use a lot of images on my cards, so I stamp and color more so I'm prepared!
I arranged all of the fairies, flowers, and two rainbows in the three little windows. I used one of the three fairies in each. I let the rainbows hang over the edges of the frame. I used foam tape behind the clouds and behind the top of the fairies and the flowers, but then glued down the bottom parts of each so they had some dimension, but weren't floating haha.
I stamped a sentiment from the set on the top of the center square with black ink. Then I went crazy with my Nuvo Glitter Drops. I used the six colors I had in the rainbow and added them to the rainbows as well. Everything looked so cute with the glitter on it. I decided there was enough going on, so I resisted my impulse to add white Nuvo drops around the sky haha.
I hope you enjoyed this little foray into fairy land today! I love the Fairy Garden line so much - Doodlebug did a great job on this one. I even have the rainbow washi tape and I never buy washi anymore because I have so much of it, but this one I could not resist! Thank you so much for visiting!!! Suzy
