This house renovation thing is quite time consuming! And overwhelming! And dirty. And I just want my old house back before it was all torn up so it could be updated because it was falling apart. I liked it that way just for the record. But enough about me. Let's get to the point of this post... I made this card days ago and just haven't had time to post it! First let me show you my card. Then let me explain...
I had a background stamp by SSS that I had recently purchased called Flower Explosion. I didn't know how old it was. I didn't get a chance to use it for a few months. I forgot to check stock on it before I colored it which took FOREVER!!! When I did check stock, I realized it was discontinued. WHAT?!?!?! I can't post a card using a discontinued stamp due to low sales!!! I love this stamp, so why would it not sell well anyway!?!?!!? I decided I am still going to post it because as previously mentioned, it took a long time to color! I will give you an alternative stamp that could be used with the same color scheme to get the same tropical vibe which is what I was going for. Thus the "hello" as you could send it from vacation instead of a post card.
This one is called Outline Floral and it looks like it wouldn't take as long to color - so there's that on a positive note! Too bad I don't own it and didn't use it instead! Now, let's get back to my card...
I stamped the Flower Explosion Background Stamp with MFT Natural Ink and then colored it in with colored pencils. It was one of those fun projects that took a few nights in front of the TV mindlessly coloring. I added the black background at the last minute as I've been really liking black backgrounds lately and they are so not my usual thing. I always love using Nuvo drops over my coloring, so someday I'll learn that I could have my grand-daughter who is 6 color it and you wouldn't know the difference. I covered all the yellow flowers with Nuvo glitter drops in Yellow Bird and the blue flowers with Nuvo glitter drops in Aquatic Mist. I used Red Berry glossy Nuvo drops in the center of all of the yellow flowers.
I love this new large Hello Die by CZ for SSS. I die-cut it from white cardstock and then I colored the letters in with Copics. I picked several shades of red that matched the flowers and used the lightest on the top and the darkest shade on the bottom of the letters. I attached that to the bottom of the card. I used some Chalk Stick Nuvo Drops around the sentiment to finish it. What would I ever do with out my Nuvo drops. They really do take cards up a notch. I showed this to my daughter and she wasn't that impressed. Then I showed her it finished and she said wow, that looks so much better. The dimension and sheen just add so much to a flat colored card.
Thanks so much for visiting and I hope I've inspired you to go on a tropical get-a-way so you can send someone a post card. Because let's be honest, we aren't going to spend hours on a card to send from vacation before a vacation. Well, at least I am prepared. For the vacation part now! haha Happy week friends! suzy
