As part of the SSS All the Feels release, I had a set of watercolor cards released called Sunshine and Rainbows. I painted 3 of them as part of the blog hop and you can see that post HERE. Today I am going to show you the other three all painted. Here is an image of the set:
I felt like we could ALL use a little sunshine and remember that rainbows follow the storms. I hope this Spring and Summer gives us all the rainbows we need after all these cloudy days. Ok, that was wayyyyy deepppppp for me haha. If you know my personality at all, I'm all about the jokes and laugh my way through everything. Even when I shouldn't. And now, let's get back to the point of this post, here are my 3 other cards colored:
I die-cut this piece to be a little smaller than a card base. I try to always leave room around the cards to allow for that. I then watercolored it with Karin Brushmarkers. I picked these as I wanted the colors to be bright and they offer the brightest watercoloring I have found! I realized I had to double up on a couple of the colors - I must have forgotten there are officially only 6 colors in a rainbow!
I attached the painted piece to blue cardstock. I wanted to use white, but my daughter insisted on blue and I trust her! I added some white uniball dots on the rainbow, some Chalk Board black Nuvo drops on the clouds, and some blue glitter Nuvo drops on the background. I used two of the preprinted sentiment strips by SSS called Reverse Lucky to make things very easy!
This card is a copy of one I had drawn way back when I started doodling. I went back to my roots before I had an iPad and left off sentiments. I again painted it with Karin Brushmarkers. This time I used a Lawn Fawn Double Stitched Rectangle die around the edges.
Since it had a sentiment, I just added some gray shadows with a color pencil under each letter. I used Tonic Crystal Glaze over the rainbow pieces which you can't really tell in the photos, but they are raised and very shiny (((love that stuff!))). I used white and black Nuvo drops on the clouds and background and some sparkling clear sequins.
I painted the rainbow with Karin Brushmarkers again. After it was done and dried, I felt like the colors were too light, so I went back and added a second coat and they got really intense. I cut arrange the top of the rainbow and adhered it to a white card base. I die-cut a sun and clouds using the Rainbow Card wafer dies. I used a darker color for the center of the sun and then used Tonic Crystal Glaze over it again. It dried into a beautiful shiny bubble. And then I dropped it while I was photographing it and part of it got ruined - you have to let it dry a really long time to get it hardened I guess! I photoshopped the boo boo's off it!
I used a sentiment strip from the same Reverse Lucky set I used on the first rainbow card. I added some white and black Nuvo drops and sparkling clear sequins.
I hope these rainbows have brightened your day! I really love this set because it makes me happy - the rainbows and the bright colors. I'll post my other 3 cards here in case you don't click over to the blog post linked above:
And I'll end on that happy note. You can purchase the Sunshine and Rainbow watercolor cards HERE if you are interested. They are printed on Ranger Watercolor Paper and work great with any coloring medium, but I prefer the Karin Brushmarkers for them. Thanks for visiting!!! suzy
