Hellooooooo! I recently purchased a stamp by Hero Arts called Flower Shop because I really wanted to color it. I mean, how could I not?!?!?! Have you seen it? Here is an image:
It reminds me of a European scene (that I've always wanted to see, but never have!). I knew it would be fun to color with colored pencils with all the small details. After I colored it I was looking for a stamp set to use with it that had a "welcome" type theme or a house type theme. I looked through my Simon stamps and found the new Hello Beautiful release CZ Welcoming stamp set. It was exactly what I was looking for to pair with the Flower Shop! And this is what came of this pairing:
I started by stamping the Hero Arts Flower Shop background stamp (this is a cling rubber stamp) on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. Next, I started coloring it with colored pencils. I realized pretty quick that I didn't like it without black lines around it. There were too many details to look good without outlines. Now at this point, I should have just restamped it with black ink. But instead, I decided to outline all of the light lines with a black fine tip pen and it took longer than I expected. I also made a mess of it, so I tried for the doodled look on purpose after that (I had to tell me left side of the brain to go to sleep for a while). I attached it to a white card to frame the scene.
Next, I pulled out the SSS CZ Welcoming Stamp set from the Hello Beautiful release that also has matching dies. As usual, I couldn't decide what color I wanted the greeting to be or even which greeting I preferred. Thus all of the ones in the photo above! I stamped both large welcomes with 3 colors of embossing powders: ebony black, soft mango, and Primary Gitty's Power all by WOW. The one above is soft mango. I stamped the second sentiment with Intense black ink. I love that this set has the matching dies as they cut super close to the words and look so good cut out! I attached the "welcome" with foam tape behind it and then used some Chalk Stick Nuvo drops around it.
After embossing all of these "welcome's" I couldn't decide which one I preferred on the card, so I ended up photographing it all 3 ways for YOU to decide! This one is the black one. One thing to note is that I remembered hearing once not to use black embossing powder. Instead stamp the image in black ink and then use clear embossing powder over it. But I couldn't remember why. And I had this Wow black embossing powder so I used it. And it worked like a charm, so if you also heard that advice, throw it out the window haha.
For this title, I used the WOW Gitty's Powder which is a darker coral color that I just purchased. it looks more red in the photo, but it really is more of a burnt orange. I liked it in person, but thought it looked too red in the photo. So, which one is your favorite? I thought mine was black and that's the one I attached to the card. But then I saw the photographs and decided I liked the Soft Mango the best.
And now I have lots of Welcomes all ready to go for future cards! I love this CZ Welcome stamp set and I can't believe I forgot all about it while making this card. Her fonts are so perfect and the matching dies made me really happy! I hope you enjoyed this card with the Hero Arts Flower Shop. Thanks so much for visiting! Suzy
PS: I noticed in these photos that the second greeting "to the neighborhood" is crooked. It is bugging me so much. I hadn't glued it down as I wasn't sure I liked it there until I took the photos. I think it moved slightly before I took them. I'm sorry. I am such a perfectionist that these type of things drive me batty. Ok, my PS is over...
