Today is the release of the special edition card kit by Simon Says Stamp called Spring Gnomies. As I've mentioned many times previously, I dig gnomes. I have always loved elves and even collect Christmas elves, so this big gnome thing going on is right up my alley! Today's kit is full of cute gnome items, including 3 watercolor cards I illustrated. I'll be showing all 3 as part of my "one stamp, five ways" post. Here is an image of the kit:
There are many items in this kit that are sold alone as well including the Gnomie Home Die, the Bitty Florals stencil, the Spring Gnome Sentiment Strips, and the stamp set also called Spring Gnomies that also has a set of matching dies or you can purchase them as a bundle. Last, I illustrated a set of Spring Gnome watercolor cards that are being sold with two each of 6 different designs. This set includes the 3 that are in the kit. Here is an image of the set:
Here are my five cards using the kit and the stamp set:
CARD 1:
My first card is a mini slimline card which means it is 6.5" x 3.5". I made the background with the Bitty Florals stencil that is in the kit. I attached it to the white cardstock base and rubbed Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink over it. Then I removed the stencil and I rubbed some more of the same ink over that. This made the entire background pink, but the flowers from the stencil are darker. I die-cut a piece of grass using the MFT Slimline Grassy Banks die and colored that with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Ink. I layered that over the pink background and trimmed them both down a bit so they would fit on a white cardstock base with the edge showing.
I stamped all of the images with MFT Natural Ink and I colored them in with colored pencils. I then fussy cut them out because I didn't have the matching dies and glued them all to the background. I embossed the sentiment on the front of the card with Ranger Leaf Green embossing powder. I used Key Lime Pie Jewel Drops on the inside of the letters. I also used some of the Nuvo Glitter Drops around other elements in the scene. I used Chalk Stick white Nuvo drops around the sentiment.
CARD 2:
For this card, I used the embossing folder in the kit. I embossed a piece of white cardstock after lightly misting it. I then rubbed Mowed Lawn ink over it. I used that as the background for the card. Next, I die-cut the Gnome Home Die twice out of white cardstock. I colored one of them with Copic Markers. I glued the white one onto the background first. Then I glued the colored one over it using foam tape behind the top of the mushroom. I bent the door open and used a watermelon jewel as the doorknob.
I stamped all of the images from the stamp set on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I attached them over the background with foam tape behind them. I used Rhubarb Crumble Nuvo Drops on the spots on the mushrooms. I used black Nuvo drops around the sentiments. I used two of the sentiments from the Spring Gnome Sentiment Strip set included in the kit for the greeting.
CARD 3:
This is the first one of my watercolor cards from the kit. I painted it in with Karin Brushmarkers. I love how the markers are very intense in color and made it so bright. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on the bottom of the card. I die0cut the card with a rounded edge rectangle die and adhered it to a fuchsia card base.
I filled in the inside of the letters on the GNOMIE stamp with a white uniball and then I covered them with Yellow Bird Nuvo Drops. The white background made the yellow pop more. I used Chalk Board white nuvo drops over both of the hats. I also added some around the background.
CARD 4:
This is my second watercolor card in the kit. I again painted it with Karin Brushmarkers. I die-cut it out with the same rounded rectangle die and attached it to a purple card base. I stamped the "miss you gnome much" stamp on the bottom of the card with Intense black ink.
I added some Nuvo drops to the scene again. I used Sweet Lilac Gloss drops over the centers of the yellow flowers and center of the bows. I used Limoncello jewel Nuvo drops over all of the butterflies. I used Chalk Board white drops around the scene.
CARD 5:
This is the third and last watercolor card in the kit. I again painted it with Karin Brushmarkers. I die-cut it with the same rounded edge rectangle die. I attached it to a fuchsia card base. I stamped "hello Spring" from the stamp set on the top of the card. I colored the letters in with a white uniball again and then used Sherbet Shimmer glitter drops over the letters.
I added LOTS of glitter drops over all of the rest of the elements on this card because I can resist! I used them on the yellow flowers and flower centers. I used Jewel drops on the hat stripes.
That's it! I actually made one more slim-line card with the kit as well, but I'll share that one tomorrow so come visit again! You can see the entire Spring Gnomies card kit HERE. You can buy just the Spring Gnomies stamp set HERE. And you can see my new Spring Gnome set of watercolor cards HERE. Thank you so much for visiting today! xoxo suzy
