Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the brand new special edition card kit for Easter called You Make My Hoppy. As I have said several times recently, Easter cards are my favorite cards to make. I love the colors so much and I love flowers and Spring and bunnies and eggs, etc... haha I love it all! I guess Easter is my favorite holiday although I never thought about that until today! This kit represents my love of Easter perfectly! It's full of Spring colors, flowers, bunnies, and eggs! Here is an image of the full kit:
As you know, with my "one stamp, five ways" posts, I try to focus primarily on the stamp set. It's a 6" x 8" stamp and is so darn cute I can't stand it! When I saw it I might have squealed. Screamed. Something came out of my mouth, but not sure what it was. Here is an image of the stamp also called You Make Me Hoppy which is sold alone or with a set of dies or together as a bundle. I didn't have the dies and I wish I had as this was a lot of fussy cutting! I definitely think I would buy this set.
And here are my five cards focusing on the stamp set like I said, but also using many of the other things in the kit like the Ranger Intertwined embossing folder and the Egg Hunt stencil which are also sold alone. LOVED working with both. I didn't use the Doodlebug papers or stickers in the kit at all even though I love them! I will definitely be making more cards with this kit - maybe I'll buy the dies first though haha.
CARD 1:
My first card is a slimline card - I ended up making 2 as I had so many colored images I wanted to use them all up. Before I make any cards, I stamp a bunch of images, usually with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock. Then I color them all in, this time all of them are colored with pencils. I make the cards after they are all ready to go, so I never know how many images I'll end up needing. I'm happy to report after making five cards, I only had one bunny and one sheep left! Knowing I wanted to use several of the flowers in the wagon for a card, I stamped that stamp 4 times so I could cut the flowers off the top of the wagon for this card.
I made the background of this card with Copics. I colored the sky in blues first. Then I die-cut grassy hills using the MFT Stitched Slimline Snowbank dies. I used both sides of the cut image, so only one hill has the stitching. No wasting over here! I colored both with Copics as well and attached them overlapped over the sky. I embossed the Happy Easter sentiment to the top of the card with Pink Peony embossing powder.
I attached all of the images to the front of the card creating an Easter egg hunt scene. I tucked the three flower stamps under the grass edge. I used glitter Nuvo drops over the sun and cloud as well as many of the Easter items. They always add a little texture and sheen to images, so I use them constantly (especially on Easter cards of course!).
CARD 2:
This card is going to sound really time consuming, but it really wasn't! I started by attached the egg hunt stencil in the kit to a piece of white card size cardstock with Pixie Spray. I then picked out 6 colors of colored pencils and sharpened them to be really sharp! I outlined the inside of each piece of the stencil with the pencils trying to vary the colors so they weren't directly touching each other. I removed the stencil and colored all of the images in. What made this a quick process is I didn't do any shading and I only lightly colored in each image and didn't care how messy it was as I knew I would be covering it with glitter glue. One small problem I had though is the pixie dust leaves some residue and the pencil dust attached to it and created lots of colored specks between the eggs. I fixed that of course! (((perfectionist here))).
I die-cut a white MFT Stitched Rounded Corner Rectangle. I attached three small eggs to the bottom and embossed Happy Easter with Pink Peony embossing powder to the top. I attached this piece to the bottom of the card with foam tape behind it. Then I covered all of the eggs with Nuvo glitter drops - again I used 6 colors only and it went quick! I planned on reattaching the stencil and using Moonstone Glitter Paste over it. But I couldn't figure out where I put my stencil after I used it! I ended up finding it much later attached to the bottom of my Misti! After it was all dry, I used a white uniball around all of the white areas to cover all the pencil dust that was driving me crazy! This card is very glittery and has a ton of texture, so I'm glad I took the time to "decorate" my eggs!
CARD 3:
I absolutely LOVE the Ranger Intertwined embossing folder in the kit. I used a card size piece of Neenah white 110 lb cardstock sprayed lightly with water in it. I had rubbed some of the SSS Hollyhock ink on the flat size of the embossing folder for the next card, so this piece has some random leftover pink on it which I liked (primarily in the grooves of the basket weave).
Next, I die-cut the darling little chick die in the kit out of white cardstock. I colored it with Copics. I then attached one of the yellow pom-poms to the stomach of the chick. But first, I gave it a haircut to fit better and be a bit flatter. I cut about 1/4" off all of it and then flattened it and glued it on. I embossed the sentiment on a banner colored with orange Copics using white embossing powder. I attached that to the bottom of the card with sparkling clear sequins.
CARD 4:
This was the Ranger Basketweave Embossing Folder image I made before the one on the last card. First I sprayed a piece of Ranger Watercolor Paper with Nuvo Mica Mist in Pink Carnation. I rubbed it around with my finger so it was an even coat and I dried it with my embossing gun. Then I rubbed the SSS Hollyhock small ink cube that is in the kit over the flat part of the embossing folder. I ran it through the embossing folder and the ink was in all the grooves of the basket weave which looks so good in person with the Mica Mist sheen! I cut it down to fit on a white card base - the pink behind it is the envelope.
I die-cut two more of the MFT Rounded Stitched Rectangle dies. I sprayed the smaller one with the same Pink Carnation Mica Mist. This time I didn't rub it around and left the splotchy look. I dried it and then I stamped the greeting stamp with the SSS Hollyhock ink. It was a little bright for me, so I sprayed more Mica Mist over this piece again which softened the ink. I attached one of my stamped images colored with pencils over it. I attached this piece over the rectangle that is one size bigger left white. I attached that to the front of the card.
CARD 5:
This was the last card I made, so I ended up making a second slim-line to use up all of my colored images. I made the background with a Hello Bluebird slimline die and two colors of cardstock attached to a white card base. Once those pieces were all attached to each other and all of my images were colored, the fun part started and I created three small scenes.
I stamped the sentiment on the top of the center square with black ink and then I added a shadow with a gray pencil. I attached all of my stamped images in the 3 sections. I fit quite a few on there! Like I said, all I had left was one bunny and one sheep, so I did pretty good!
I decorated my images with Nuvo glitter drops again of course! I can't seem to ever leave that step off! I also used white Nuvo drops on the bunny tails and on the sheep head/hair. I added some drops to the background as well.
That's it! Do you like making Easter cards too? If so, this special edition kit is the perfect thing to get you started and give you tons of inspiration! Like I said earlier, I didn't use any of the Doodlebug papers or stickers in the kit, so I can make many more cards with this kit! There are also little treat bags in the kit which would be perfect to put little Easter tags in. I could see them hanging on Easter baskets or used next to place settings at a table! If you are interested in this kit called You Make Me Hoppy, just a warning that they sell out fast so HOP on it (get that haha?). Thanks for visiting friends! Suzy xoxo
