Hello friends. Today I have a simple card to share with you that is one layer made with the SSS Outline Butterflies Cling Stamp. It's an older stamp (maybe a year or two?), but one I have gone back to many times. Here is an image of it:
Here is my card:
I started by stamping the SSS Outline Butterfly Cling stamp with MFT Natural Ink on Arches Watercolor Paper. I started painting it with Karin Brushmarkers and realized it is REALLY hard to keep them inside the lines. They tend to bleed a little and if you touch a dry color with water when painting next to it, it moves (reactivates). I had only painted ONE butterfly at this point, so I should have just restamped it with black ink or better yet embossed it with white embossing powder. (That is my preferred method of stamping when coloring with Karin Brushmarkers). BUT, instead, I decided to draw over all the lines with a fine tip black Micron marker. I use the .25 which is the smallest one they make and I like the look of doodled lines, so I draw them twice as messy as I can handle haha. These pens are waterproof which is another reason I use them for this purpose.
Once all the lines were drawn, I finished painting them in with Karin Brushmarkers. Once they were dry, I used a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen over the painted areas to add some "shimmer"! I came back a little while later and most of the areas I had painted over were completely faded! I have no idea why, but don't use a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen over Karin Brushmarkers!!! So I went back and repainted them in. These directions are the longest way to make a card possible hahaha.
Once I had painted the butterflies twice and doodled around all the lines around them, I also added a little blue on the background. I used Nuvo Vintage Drops in Bohemian Teal. I cut this piece down and attached it to an Audrey Blue Cardstock base. I then die-cut a banner with the SSS Sentiment Labels. I stamped a sentiment with the Butterfly Kisses stamp set and white embossing powder and attached that to the top of the card. I used lots of my favorite Nuvo Glitter Drops over the butterflies. I really wanted to skip this step and let the pretty watercolor show, but I couldn't. I did try though, so that is a step in the right direction, right?
If you love this Outline Butterflies Cling Stamp as much as I do, make sure to read all my hints in this blog post so you don't make the same mistakes I did hahaha. Have a great week friends and thanks for visiting! There is a new SSS release coming this week yippppeeeee!!! suzy
