The Simon Says Stamp March 2021 Card Kit was released today called Spring Windows. I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the entire kit, but also focusing on the Spring Windows 6x8 stamp set. It is also sold as a bundle with the dies or you can purchase the dies by themselves. Here is an image of the kit:
As usual with my kit posts, I try to focus on the stamp set in the kit, but I also used many of the other elements in the kit for my 5 cards, especially those cool Ranger Distress Markers. I've never purchased them before because I had a couple and I didn't feel like the tips held up well. But I realized when using them for two of the backgrounds on my cards that they work much better when you color with the side of the large tip. The 2 windows in the stamp set are so pretty that I ended up using one of the other, or both on all of my 5 cards! I didn't use the "beautiful" word die, but I am so glad I have it for future cards!
CARD 1:
My first card is a mini slim-line meaning it is 3.5" x 6.5". Simon has envelopes for this size which is what got me started on them! I made the background by painting the three Ranger Distress Markers in the kit into stripes on watercolor paper. I colored one color stripe first using the size of the broad tip. I then used a wet paintbrush over it to spread the color. I applied the next color and did the same thing until I had covered the entire piece with stripes. I embossed the flecked stamp over this piece using white embossing powder. I cut it to fit on the top of the card over a piece of white cardstock. I used two of the papers in the kit over the bottom of the card to finish the background.
I stamped the window stamp on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I colored it in with colored pencils. Because I didn't have the matching dies, I fussy cut it out. I attached that to the top of the card over the background. I die-cut a circle with the smallest SSS Thin Circle Die out of both white and yellow cardstock. I embossed the sending hugs circle stamp with Pink Peony embossing powder. I attached that to the bottom of the card with the yellow frame around it. I tied some Lawn Fawn Lemon twine around the pink checked paper. I embossed another one of the curved sentiments above the window with the same embossing powder.
CARD 2:
I stamped the window on white cardstock with Intense Black Ink this time. I colored it in with Copics. I wanted it to match the colors and style of the paper I used behind it that came in the kit. I loved how those little windows worked so well with the large window. I cut around the edges since I didn't have the die.
I made the background for the card with three of the papers in the kit. They are so pretty and all go together perfectly. I cut them to be 1/4" smaller than the card front and mounted them all on a black card base. I attached one of the black word sticker from the kit on the bottom of the card and added 2 green sequins. I tied some twine around the bottom of the window.
CARD 3:
You might notice that the card above changed in the second picture. I didn't like the first one that much, so I made a couple of changes as you can see. I made the background with a black striped paper that was in the kit. I used the PPP Stitched Notes die for the frame and the paper using turquoise cardstock. It adds stitching detail to both the frame and the inside piece.
I stamped the window on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored it in with colored pencils. I cut around the edges and attached it over the paper. I added the little sayings from the stamp set on the second version of the card with black ink. I attached one of the word stickers to cardstock and cut it out so I could use foam tape beneath it. I like doing this to stickers so they don't stick until I want them to! I added two lights blue sequins around the sentiment. I was in quite the twine mood when I made these cards, so I tied some Lawn Fawn Aquamarine Twine around the bottom of the card.
CARD 4:
I used Arches watercolor paper for this card. I stamped the window first using white embossing powder in the center of the paper. I then stamped all of the brick stamps around the window with white embossing powder. I painted it all with Karin Brushmarkers. I wanted the wall to be a warm gray, but I painted inside all of the bricks a pale pink so they stood out more.
I attached a frame around the card using the A2 Thin Frame dies with white and dark gray cardstock. I attached the word sticker from the kit to a white Honeybee banner die and added 2 sparkling clear sequins to each side.
I ended up making a few changes to this card as well. I stamped the smaller sentiments in the windows. I switched the sequins to match the pink window shutters, but they photographed more orange.
CARD 5:
I wanted to make a slimline card with the windows, but I couldn't figure out a way to make them fit. I ended up stamping the square window twice with MFT Natural Ink and I cut off the shutters so I could fit three windows on the front of the card. I also stamped the rounded window and colored all 3 in with colored pencils. I cut them out right up to the edges so there were not white borders as I wanted them to blend into the background. Please don't notice that the center one is slightly crooked as it is driving me crazy!
I made the background the same way I did the last striped ones. I cut a piece of Arches watercolor paper and I rubbed the side of a marker over the paper. I then ran a wet paintbrush over it. Then I went to the next color. I love the way these markers worked for making stripes. I embossed some of the bricks around the background with white embossing powder. I colored these in with a white colored pencil. I glued the 3 windows onto the background. See, I fit all 3! I stamped the sentiment on an MFT Banner with black ink and positioned that over the center window with foam tape behind it.
I hope you enjoyed this "one stamp, five ways" post using the new Spring Windows card kit. Isn't it a beauty? And doesn't it make you long for Spring? I just love these cute flower windows in this S/pring Windows stamp set. Have a great week friends and thank you as always for visiting my blog. I hope I have inspired you to use your kit to make as many cards as possible. I still have so many supplies left to use as these kits can be used over and over! xoxo Suzy
