Hello friends! Today I have a couple cards to share with you using products from the new MFT release for March. There are so many cute products in this release, that it was hard to decide which ones to use for this post today! I ended up making a card with the Birdie Brown Mice Day to Celebrate and the Wild Poppies stamp set.
First I have a slim-line card to share using Birdie Brown's latest - Mice Day to Celebrate. This set is so darling and I love birthday stamps as I know I will use them again and again. I went with a yellow, blue, and red color scheme just because the primary colors seem very birthday to me!
I didn't have the dies that go with this Mice Day Celebration set, so I decided to do a one layer card to make things easier on myself! I highly recommend the dies if you buy it though as I think these images would be hard to cut out! I cut a piece of white cardstock to be 3.5" x 8.5". I stamped all of the images with MFT Natural Ink. The only one that really overlapped was the balloon behind the mouse on the far right, but I was too lazy to use masking paper. I just stamped the balloon once really softly so the lines wouldn't show as much. Hopefully you can't see them through the mouse! Actually if you look close you can. So I recommend not being lazy if anyone else tries this design!
Once they were all stamped, including stamping the banner four times along the top, I colored them all in with colored pencils. I colored the background with Copics. I drew a light line for the ground and used Warm Grey on it. I could NOT decide what colors to use for the "wall" - I was about to go with blues and I switched to yellows. Still not sure it was the best decision, but I like it. I die-cut a blue frame to match using a Yellow Bluebird slim-line card die. I attached that to the top of the design.
I embossed a sentiment from the stamp by cutting it into two pieces so it fit on the cupcake wrapper. I used Ranger Forget-Me-Not embossing powder. I have to be honest - I was really nervous to stamp this directly on my design that took a few hours to co9lor! I couldn't figure out where else to put the sentiment though. I didn't like the look of a banner over it since it was all one layer. Luckily it fit and I think it looks good there! Last, I added a bunch of glitter Nuvo Drops over the banner and all the birthday "clothing". I used Rosewater Jewel drops over the cupcake frosting and Nuvo Glaze over the balloons. I added a few white Chalk Stick drops around the cupcake.
My second card uses the poppy stamp called Wild Poppies. I love poppies since i live in CA and they are our state flower! Luckily I had the matching dies for this one, so I used those as well.
I stamped the Wild Poppies stamp on white cardstock with MFT natural ink. I colored it in with colored pencils. I used a black fine tip marker to draw the black centers of the flowers. For some reason, this stamp didn't take long to color at all! I also stamped the banner from the set with black ink on white cardstock and die-cut it out with the matching die. I think this is a sentiment die I will use a lot for other cards!
I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set on the die. Using my Misti, I turned the edges slightly so it followed the curve of the banner. I made the background with Ranger watercolor paper and light pink watercolor. I used a 1" flat brush to paint stripes. I cut the piece to be .5" smaller than the card base on both sides. I used foam tape under it. I attached the flowers first and then the banner below them overlapping the bottom of the flowers. I added some sparkling clear sequins to finish the card.
I hope you enjoyed these two cards today. What are your favorite products from the new MFT release? I also really like the Stacey Yacula stamp set and look forward to using the one next. Thank you so much for visiting today and enjoy the blog hop! Suzy
