I don't know if I am rushing things by making Easter cards already (in late February). I prefer Spring colors and illustrations more than any other season/holiday though, so I guess you should be glad I didn't start Easter cards in December! Last Easter, I illustrated a stamp set called Hello Easter that had some of my favorite designs from some of my Spring watercolor cards in it. Here is an image of the Hello Easter 6x8" stamp set:
It is sold as a bundle as shown above or you can buy just the stamp set. Here is my mini slimline card:
Simon Says Stamp came out with some mini slim-line envelopes in the last release. They are going to come out with more colors in the next release. They are 3.5" x 6.5". I make my cards 3.25" x 6.25". It's a fun size canvas to create little scenes without having to commit to the large slim-line size!
I always keep my leftover images I have colored or even just stamped and die-cut in baggies by subject. I pulled out my Easter one today and I had all the images on this card all colored from last year - what a find! I had stamped the bunny and large egg on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I colored them in with colored pencils. I colored the background of my card with Copic markers. I cut it slightly smaller than the card size so I could have white edges around it to mat it.
I had the other images all embossed with white embossing powder on watercolor paper. I had painted them with my Daniel Smith watercolors. This includes the individual flowers and the small row of eggs at the bottom. I arranged all of the images together to create this scene. I didn't think the no-line pencil images and the embossed painted images looked bad together. Kind of an odd mix, but it works!
Last, I added a sentient to the left side of the card (see last image!). I used a preprinted sentiment strip from a new Easter set that will be in the release on February 26th, so you are getting a little sneak peek on this one! I cut it in two pieces so it fit to the left of the bunny's ears. I added some Chalkstick white Nuvo Drops (these are a matte finish instead of their glossy white finish, so I prefer them).
This is a very Eastery Easter card, so I hope you aren't running as fast as you can. Actually, with the weather going on in most of the country, you are probably happy to see some Spring colors!!! I hope you like this card using the Hello Easter stamp set. Thanks for visiting today friends! and stay warm! Suzy
