Hello Friends! Today is the Simon Says Stamp Love You and Love You, Too blog hop. It is a 2 day hop, today, January 16th and tomorrow, January 17th. You can start the blog hop on either day on the SSS blog HERE. I have a new set of watercolor cards in the Love You, Too release to share with you called Pet Friends.
I've painted four of these and made them into cards to share with you. They are all printed on Ranger Watercolor Paper and you can use any coloring medium on the paper. I mix them all on each card! There are 12 cards with 2 of each design. I love coloring these with my 5 year old grand-daughter, so I drew these little girls because they remind me of her! They would be perfect for little girl birthday cards. I used the new Inside Friendship stamp set on all of these as they are great for friendship cards as well. This stamp gives a lot of different sentiments that work for missing friends during this crazy time period we are all going through!
CARD 1:
For this card, I cut the little girl out of the watercolor card. I then colored her with Copic Markers. And her little dog too! I cut right next to the black lines without leaving a white border. I made the background by layering slimline dies. I used the Slimline Nested Rectangles and the Slimline Scallop Frame dies. I painted the aqua piece with Atlantis Burst Shimmer Powder.
I used the Inside Friendship stamp set for the greetings. I embossed the larger one with white embossing powder on the top of the framed portion of the background. I then stamped the smaller words with Intense Black Ink. I tired a piece of Lawn Fawn Pretty in Pink Sparkle Cord between the sentiment and the girl.
This is how the card looked before I cut it out. My daughter painted this one with Karin Brushmarkers. She is 18 and is a very good artist! I love the freckles!
CARD 2:
I colored this card with Copics and colored pencils. I start with Copics and then I add lots of shading with colored pencils. I used a white Uniball gel pen for the white dots. I have to say that cat on the right looks really funny! Maybe (I hope) it is how I colored him and not how I drew him! ha I added a gray shadow to the left side of the girl and cats so they appear to be dimensional.
I added a frame around the card using the MFT A2 Rectangle Frame die and an aqua piece of patterned paper. I die-cut the word hugs from the Small Script Trio dies. I die-cut it twice out of white cardstock and glued the two together for more dimension. I then colored the top one with matching Copics. I attached that to the top of the card. I stamped the sentiment from the same Inside Friendship stamp set with black ink.
CARD 3:
I painted this one with Karin Brushmarkers. I shaded the image with colored pencils after it dried. I used a green marker and a blue marker for the background with lots of water touching my wet brush to the tip of the pen to apply the color. If you wet the paper first, you are able to move the color around. I used a white Uniball for details. I used a red card base and added a white scallop frame around the card from the HB Gallery Frame 2 die.
This time I used the Better Together stamp set for the sentiment. I used Carnation Red embossing powder for the top part of the sentiment and Intense black ink for the smaller portion. I used some glossy white Nuvo drops around the sentiment.
CARD 4:
I colored this one with primarily colored pencils, but then used copics on the dog! I used watercolors on the background. Like I said, I tend to combine all of my coloring mediums on one card! I used Copics for the ground. I die-cut a frame from the MFT A2 Rectangle Frame Dies out of red cardstock and then another frame from one of the HB Scene Dies out of white and layered them over the card.
I used Carnation Red embossing powder for the top part of the sentiment and used black ink for the bottom part. I used the Inside Friendship stamp set again. Like I said earlier, it is a perfect pair with this set of watercolor cards!
