Today I have a card to share with you using a stamp set by Simon Says Stamp from their Lucky To Know You release. You might have noticed that I like to use older sets as well as current sets (especially together) because I for one like to get use out of ALL of my stamps. This beautiful stamp set called Botanical Heart has a matching set of dies (which I don't have) or can be purchased together as a bundle. Here is a photo of the bundle:
Because I love to color intricate details and because flowers are my favorite type of stamp, I really loved this one. In fact, I just bought it almost a year after it was released. Here is my card:
I stamped the heart image on white cardstock once with MFT Natural Ink and again on another piece with black ink. I wasn't sure if I wanted to color this very detailed design without lines. I ended up not liking the black inked one, so I used the light ink for a no-line coloring look. I colored in the front with colored pencils. It was a little challenging because there were areas of the design that I didn't know what they were - flowers or leaves. After spending way too much time studying my black ink stamped one, I just colored them based on what I thought they were and decided not to care if it was "right"! So the yellow leaves here and there should probably be green. Just FYI. haha After I had it all colored, I decided the details were all getting lost in the leafy areas, so I ended up outlining everything with a very fine tip black marker. Sounds crazy, huh? I like the really fine lines though and it was so fun to do. I have issues. Clearly.
This is such a straightforward card! I decided to use some of my pre-printed sentiment strips instead of stamping a greeting from the stamp set (although there were lots of nice ones to choose from). But after coloring that detailed image, I wanted to go the lazy route! I cut the white one out from the Slimline Love set and the thinner black one from the Reverse Slimline Love set. I attached I Cherish You with foam tape behind it and the black one below it. I added 3 sparkling clear sequins.
This was a very simple card to make. I just had to color that gorgeous floral heart in the Botanical Heart stamp set. Now I want to do it again! So I can make the leaves green instead of yellow haha. Thanks for visiting today and have a happy week! xoxo suzy
