Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using a cling stamp by Simon Says Stamp called Center Cut Hexagon Floral. It was part of the Crafty Hugs release earlier in 2020, but I hadn't had a chance to use it yet. I was saving it for a 5 card post because I loved it so much and couldn't wait to color it. Above you can see my 5 cards together and here is an image of the stamp set:
The center piece comes out so it can be used with or without it. They also have a Hexagon Die that can be used around the center piece or to replace it with cardstock for a sentiment as I'll show on some of my cards. So let's get started! My first 3 cards are similar designs using the cling stamp as is, but altering my coloring medium (as I usually do on my 3 card posts), but I expanded this to a 5 card post by adding the last 2 cards which use the stamp set differently.
CARD 1:
I stamped the Hexagon Floral cling stamp on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I colored in the images with colored pencils. I outlined the ink around each hexagon with a light brown colored pencil. The ink could have been left alone as it looked fine (but a little lighter), but I preferred this darker brown color. I also enjoy every bit of coloring, so outlining the edges was fun! I die-cut this piece with the largest frame die in the A2 Thin Frame die set and attached it to a teal blue cardstock base.
I stamped a sentiment "beautiful friend" using the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set. I embossed it with Garden Patina embossing powder which is my favorite teal color for sentiments. I used a small stitched rectangle from the SSS Stitched Rectangle dies on Ranger Watercolor paper. I painted it with teal watercolor before embossing the sentiment on it. I added some sparkling clear sequins to finish the card.
CARD 2:
I stamped the cling stamp on Arches watercolor paper with WOW embossing ink and embossed with Ranger white embossing powder. I painted the images in with Karin Brushmarkers. Sometimes I love the way these markers work and this was one of those times. I prefer them with embossing powder, as the colors run into each other. Even when they are dry, the minute you paint anything around them, the colors run again. So for tis card, I loved the way the colors moved into each other creating multicolored backgrounds in the hexagon shapes. This time I stamped the cling stamp without the center piece in it and then I cut out a piece of the same watercolor paper with the small Hexagon die that fits perfectly into the opening. I die-cut my watercolored piece with the largest A2 Thin Frame Die and attached it to a fuchsia cardstock base.
I embossed a sentiment from the Floral Heart stamp set as it fit so perfectly in this hexagon shape. I used Turquoise embossing powder from the Ranger Brights Embossing Powder set. I attached the hexagon inside the opening using foam tape beneath it. I then used some sparkling clear sequins and some watermelon jewels around the sentiment hexagon.
CARD 3:
This time I stamped the Hexagon Floral cling stamp without the center in it with MFT Natural Ink again on white cardstock. I colored the images in with colored pencils. I outlined each hexagon with one of the colors I used and then colored in the inside of them with the same color. I liked the amount of color this technique gave me, so this is my favorite card. I die-cut one of the hexagon dies from pink cardstock and attached that to the center of the card.
I stamped a sentiment from the Just Because Word Mix 2 stamp set using white embossing powder. This one also fit on the hexagon perfectly! I added some sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment AGAIN. I get in these ruts and right now it's sparkling clear sequins. On every single card. Can't break out - will try! Anyway, I love how bright this one turned out by using Copic markers and outlining each section in a bright color color pencil.
CARD 4:
I stamped the cling stamp with black ink on white cardstock. I then cut out each hexagon with the small hexagon die. This step wasn't necessary, but I didn't know where I was going with these pieces yet. I ended up attached them back together again. I then attached a white cardstock frame from the Thin White Frame Circle Dies. I glued it in place and then cut around the outside edges. I colored in all of the images with Copics. Very fast as it was getting dark, so don't look too closely. Thank goodness for white uniball gel pens to cover all my mistakes!
I attached the framed piece to a piece of rainbow patterned paper that I have no idea what pad it came in (sorry as it is the bomb, right?!?!?!). I used the A2 Thin Frame die on that and attached it to a white card base. I die-cut the "miss you" die from both pink and white cardstock and layered them for the sentiment. I attached them to the front of the card with foam tape. I used some more sparkling clear sequins around it. That paper makes the card for sure doesn't it?!!!
CARD 5:
This time I stamped just the center cut piece on Arches watercolor paper with white embossing powder. I used my Karin Brushmarkers to paint the inside. I die-cut around it with one of my A2 Thin Frame Dies (I know I have harped on and on about how much I love these dies). I also die-cut it out of purple and white cardstock as well as the frame one size up. I painted the rest of the watercolored piece with two of the purple Karin Brushmarkers. I flicked some of the darker color over the piece while it was wet.
I attached the watercolored piece with a purple frame and then a white piece of cardstock in between the two frames and then another purple frame. I attached all of these to a dark teal card base. I embossed a sentiment from the Happy Days stamp set on the bottom of the card with the same Garden Patina embossing powder. And then .... I added some sparkling clear sequins and called it done!
Do you love this gorgeous Hexagon Floral Stamp Set as much as I do? I think it is just so pretty and it is so fun to color. I hope you enjoyed my 5 cards today. I'll be back tomorrow with a 3 card post, so come back and visit again soon. Thanks so much for stopping by and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! xoxo suzy
