Today is the release of the January 2021 (yes 2021) Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. It's called Snowflake Season and is full of snowflake goodness!!! Here is an image of the kit:
One of my favorite things about this kit is the papers - they are double sided and so gorgeous. I wanted to make a card out of every piece! This 6x6 pad is by Whimsy and called Blurry Flurries. I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using many of the kit contents, but primarily focusing on the stamp set which is also called Snowflake Season and is sold alone. I also used the embossing folder in the kit for a couple of my cards called Filagree Snowflakes, which is also sold alone.
CARD 1:
My first card uses my typical technique that I call "random stamping". I stamped all of the snowflakes on the front of a white piece of card size cardstock using MFT Natural Ink. I then outlined them with very sharp colored pencils and colored in some of the smaller areas. I used 3 colors for each snowflake working with the darkest color on the outside and the lightest color on the inside. I don't know if you can tell in these pictures, but it gave the snowflakes a prettier look than when I do them all with one color. But of course, I stuck to my usual favorite colors!
I used the small banner die in the Word Mix 2 wafer die set for the sentiment. I stamped it with white embossing powder (it fit so perfectly on this banner as did some of the others in the stamp set!). I used the SSS A2 Thin Frame dies for the card front and then attached it to the same color cardstock as the banner. I added some sparkling clear sequins to finish the card.
CARD 2:
I'm always trying to think of new things to try when I make my "one stamp, five ways" cards. I decided to try a little shaker window for this one. I started with the gorgeous purple patterned paper. I used the small circle die from the SSS Shimmer Wreath die which was the perfect size for the Hello Friend stamp in the stamp set. I embossed the snowflakes on the front of the paper with WOW Royal Crush embossing powder. It is one of my all time favorites - lavender with blue glitter in it. I then die-cut the outside of the paper with the A2 Thin Frame Die. I die-cut the circle with the circle die just mentioned. I did the same on a piece of white cardstock and mounted this on the cardstock so it was a thicker base for the shaker card.
I stamped the Hello Friend stamp with the same embossing powder on the inside of the window. I added some 3mm sparkling clear sequins to the opening and attached the card base with foam tape. I attached some sparkling clear jewels on the outside of the window and around the sentiment. The sentiment is from the Holiday Slimline Sentiment strips die-cut with the Sentiment Label dies.
CARD 3:
I used the Detail Ringlet Plate on a piece of white cardstock for the card base. I then die-cut a piece of watercolor paper using the second largest A2 Thin Frame Die also die-cutting a white cardstock frame. I painted the watercolor piece with Atlantis Burst and Fountain of Jade (new color alert!) Shimmer Powder. I love my shimmer powder - seriously love it and when I saw a new color come out, I jumped all over it. These two colors were made for each other! I applied quite a bit of the powder and then I gently shook both bottles over it to add some spots of the powder to the wet surface which gave it even more texture and sheen.
I embossed the largest snowflake on the front of the painted rectangle with white embossing powder. I attached that with the white frame over the front of the card. I then used the smallest A2 Thin Frame Die (I'm telling you - I get so much use out of this die set!) for the sentiment. I embossed it with Garden Patina embossing powder. This frame was also the perfect size for the sentiment! I added some sparkling clear sequins and some sparkling clear jewels around the front of the card and in the center of the snowflake. Note: I used a white uniball gel pen to fill in areas that were not white enough from the embossing powder.
CARD 4:
I think this is my favorite of the 5 cards. I love how it turned out even though it was almost trashed a couple of times as it came through the process! I started with a piece of Ranger Watercolor Paper that was painted with Meteorite Shimmer Powder - another color I could not live without that is so perfect for night skies. I then ran it through the Filagree Snowflakes embossing folder that is in the kit - it is so beautiful. I rubbed a Hero Arts white ink pad over the top of the embossed areas and some also got on my background. I tried to wipe it off with a paper towel and gave up and just accepted it for what it was! The snowflake designs didn't turn out as white and defined as I had hoped, but I ended up liking it the way it was! I attached this piece to a white card base.
I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set on a white banner from the Word Mix 2 dies (same banner that I used on my other card) using Steel Navy embossing powder. I attached that to the bottom of the card. I die-cut two of the snowflakes using the Eliza snowflake wafer die in the kit and Lawn Fawn Pixie Dust glitter paper. I layered the two snowflakes on the top of the card and used a Silver Jewell in the center and a few more around the sentiment banner.
CARD 5:
I loved this patterned paper in the kit and thought it would make the perfect snowy sky for a card front. I then realized I had two little girls colored from my new Hello Bluebird Feed the Birds stamp set that matched the paper perfectly. I embossed some of the snowflakes in the stamp set with Wow Cloud 9 embossing powder. I put one in each of the girls hands. I embossed some more of the small snowflakes on the patterned paper with white embossing powder. I used the Lawn Fawn just double stitching dies on the outside edges of the paper before attaching it to a white card base.
I die-cut one of the Eliza snowflake dies from blue metallic paper and another smaller snowflake die called Daphne I already had from Lawn Fawn Pixie Dust paper (it's like they were made to layer over one another the way they fit together!). I layered them on the top center of the card. I stamped the sentiment on a small rectangle from the same Word Mix 2 dies with Mermaid Blue embossing powder. I also embossed two snowflakes on that. I added that to the bottom of the card and the two girls on each side of it. I also added a few more embossed snowflakes around the scene. I used a sparkling clear sequin with a sparkling clear jewel in the center of the snowflakes.
This Snowflake Season kit has so much value in it and is definitely one of my favorite kits of all time. I love the stamp set also called Snowflake Season so much as the snowflakes are so beautiful and dainty. I also love the Filagree Snowflakes embossing folder in the kit and the Eliza snowflake die in the kit and how can I not mention that gorgeous patterned paper pad (Whimsy Blurry Flurries 6x6 pad)! Altogether it is the perfect kit for creating snowy winter cards! Thanks so much for visiting today! xoxo suzy
