Art Impressions has designed an exclusive holiday stamp set being sold through Simon Says Stamp. I was lucky enough to be one of a few people to get the stamp early and be able to design with it. It is called Christmas Barn and here is an image of the set (it comes with dies as well!):
I love how interactive their stamp/die sets are. All the little doors on the barn open! The stamp set I worked with was missing the sentiments as they were not done with production yet. So I added it to my main image digitally so you can see what it will look like. My sizing may be off, but it should be close enough to get the general idea. Because this is time consuming, I didn't add it to all of my other images.
I decided to make a slim-line card because of all the images in the stamp set. The size of a slim-line card is just so perfect for building scenes! I made the background by watercoloring the sky with blue watercolor paint. I die-cut two hills with the MFT Stitched Slimline Snowdrifts and layered them over the background.
I stamped all of the images with black ink on white cardstock. I colored them all in with colored pencils and then die-cut them with the matching dies in the set.
Like I said above, the doors on the barn all open, so I backed the barn with some brown cardstock so it wouldn't look white underneath the doors. I attached all of the stamped images to the card with foam tape behind some. I added LOTS of snow drops by dipping the end of my paintbrush (anything with a tip works!) into white acrylic paint and touching it to the card. This is my favorite way to add snow without making a mess by flicking paint.
I used a gray Copic marker to add shadows under all of the elements on the background. Last, I added a ton of Nuvo Glitter drops because I just do. Every. Single. Time. I added them to the lights, to the wreaths, to the gold stars on the trees, and red glossy drops to Rudolphs nose! I also added White Blizzard to the edges of the hills, on the snow on the roof, and on top of some of my snow drops once they were dry.
I added this photo as it shows the details better since it is in natural light without being edited at all and is a slanted view. Please don't look at my thumb (now you just looked at my thumb! haha) - I have weird thumbs without a middle joint. I looked it up once and it is a hereditary condition that I had no control over! I hate that editing my photos often washes out some of the little details that show in this type photo. Cards are always so much cuter in real life!
Thank you for visiting today! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy and I feel like I say that on every single post. I'm scared. Anyone else scared? xoxoxoxo (just keep crafting - it keeps me indoors and keeps me happy!) This exclusive Art Impressions stamp set is called Christmas Barn and definitely go to the SSS Blog to see all of the adorable inspiration made with it! Suzy
