Today I have a card to share with you using a SSS stamp set from I believe last year. You know I love using my "previously purchased" (((older))) stamp sets. This is one I hadn't had a chance to use yet, so I couldn't wait to color it. It is called Poinsettia Background and here is an image:
I actually LOVE the way this card turned out and I don't always love my cards, so when I do I say so haha. Here it is with directions:
I'm really getting into black backgrounds lately and I like how it added to this card. I started by stamping the Poinsettia Background stamp on white cardstock with black ink. I die-cut the piece with the A2 Frame Die by SSS. I then colored it in with Copic Markers. I am trying to improve my coloring by using more darks and lights instead of all mediums! I darkened the inside of the flowers quite a bit and kept the tips very light.
Next, I colored the background black which was great because I was able to cover all my mistakes! I've also noticed that using a light color Copic marker over my images helps me get rid of some of the areas where I made mistakes (it removes the color or softens it). I mounted it on a white card base.
I've used this JOY stamp three times already and I'll be using it a bunch more I'm sure as Joy is my favorite Christmas word. It comes from the Holiday Sparkle stamp and die set that was part of the Holly Jolly release. I love this stamp set because it was made for slim-line cards, but works well on regular size cards by just trimming off the edges as I did here. I die-cut it four times so I could build it up. I embossed the sentiment with Antique Gold embossing powder. I added a small sentiment from the SSS Christmas Sentiment Strips (love these so much!). I used some Copper Penny Nuvo Drops in the centers of the flowers and added some Autumn Mix sequins around the sentiment.
Thank you for visiting today. I hope you are all staying well. It's such a scary time right now - I am scared to leave my house! I'm just happy I have my card making hobby to keep me busy indoors right now! Suzy xoxo
