I love gnomes! I'm so happy gnomes are popular right now! I love them so much that I drew a set of watercolor cards with winter gnome scenes. Then SSS came out with this Special Edition kit called Gnome Peeking Holiday Gift Card Kit and they included my Winter Gnome watercolor cards in it! Here is an image of the cards in the kit:
The kit is so cute and the stamp set is just my new favorite all time stamp full of gnomie goodness! Here is an image of the Gnome Peeking Gift Card kit and the Gnome Peeking stamp set:
I like to focus on a stamp set when I do my "one stamp, five ways" posts, so I primarily used the Gnome Peeking stamp in the kit. I also used some of my Winter Gnome watercolor cards which also can be purchased alone.
CARD 1:
My first card is a slimline card because all of the images in the Gnome Peeking stamp set needed to be used together in one long scene! That truck kills me with cuteness! I started by creating the background using the MFT Stitched Slimline Snowdrift dies (I use these constantly!) for 2 snowbanks. I used Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink for the sky. It is my new favorite color for winter skies as it is kind of a grayish aqua.
Next I stamped all of the images in the stamp set with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock. I stamped some of them multiple times. I colored them all with colored pencils. There is a set of dies that match the stamps, but I didn't have them, so I fussy cut all of the images out. I then arranged them on the background creating a cute little scene!
I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on the top of the card bending both edges so it was curved. I used Carnation Red embossing powder. I used a silver glitter pen by Kaiser Craft over the snowflake stamps. I used Silver Crystals Nuvo drops over the snow on the trees and the truck as well as on the heart on the truck.
CARD 2:
To make the background for this card, I used a new embossing folder by SSS called Forest Border. I applied Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink to the flat side of the embossing folder so just the background would get ink on it. I added some more ink to the edges after it was embossed. I created another snow bank with the same MFT Snowbank Dies and added that to the bottom of the card. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom of the snow bank with SSS Intense Black Ink.
I stamped all of the images from the stamp set on white cardstock with SSS Intense Black Ink and I colored them i with Copic markers this time. It goes much faster than colored pencils! I used a silver glitter pen over the snowflakes again. I applied snow to the trees that didn't have any with a white uniball gel pen and then I used Silver Crystal Nuvo Drops over all of the snowy areas in the scene. I used white glossy nuvo drops over the gnome beard.
CARD 3:
For this card, I combined the stamp set images with a large mushroom house from one of my watercolor cards. I cut it out and colored it with Copics and then arranged all of the little gnomes to cover the two sides where there were other items on the card. First, I colored the sky with blue Copics and added two snow banks using the MFT snowbank dies. Then I attached the mushroom tucked under the first snowbank with foam tape under the top of it.
I stamped all of the images with Intense Black ink and colored them in with Copics. I cut them out and attached them around the house. It was hard fitting them all on there, but I was determined to do it even though it looks a bit crowded! I stamped the sentiment above the mushroom and curved the edges again. I added some Silver Crystal and white glossy Nuvo drops for snow.
CARD 4:
This card uses one of my watercolor cards from the Winter Gnome set. I painted it with Karin Brushmarkers. These cards are so fun to paint and I really love using these markers on them. Ask for some for Christmas if you haven't tried them out yet as you will love them! I applied snow to the ground and the background with both glossy white nuvo drops and silver crystal nuvo drops. I often use the white ones and when they dry, I apply the glitter ones over them. I would have used White Blizzard drops, but my bottle is almost gone.
I stamped two of the sentiments from the stamp set to use for the greeting. I die-cut a banner using the Word Mix 2 wafer dies out of white cardstock. I embossed the sentiment using Garden Patina embossing powder. I used a strip from a SSS Sentiment Label die cut from black cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder for the second one. I attached both of those to the top right corner. I used the A2 Thin Frame dies to make my watercolor card one size smaller than a card front as I like to matte them on colored cardstock.
CARD 5:
This card uses another one of my watercolor cards. I colored it with Karin Brushmarkers again. I used Meteorite Shower Shimmer Powder for the sky. I used a silver glitter pen over the stars. I dipped the end of a paintbrush in white acrylic paint and applied snow to the sky.
I embossed the circle sentiment that says gnome peeking with Sunflower embossing powder. I used a circle die to cut around it - I tried lots of different ones and there were several that fit around it nicely. I'm not even sure which one this was! I embossed 3 snowflakes and the second sentiment on the sky with white embossing powder. I pushed too hard on my embossing ink and ended up making a mess of 2 of the snowflakes. I added some Silver Crystal nuvo drops on the background.
So what do you think? Do you like this Gnome Peeking kit? Are you a gnome person? I think the reason I love gnomes so much is because I played with trolls a lot when I was little and they remind me of trolls. Thank you for visiting today. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday even though it is a little different this year than most. xoxo suzy
