The Simon Says Stamp December Card Kit was released today and it is called Joyful Season. It's so fun to get a kit full of Christmas goodness. It has actually gotten me in the mood for Christmas already! My husband actually put on Christmas music while I was creating today! Next I'll be putting up the tree!
Below is an image of the kit. My "one stamp, five ways" blog series focuses on using a stamp 5 ways, so I try to focus on the stamp for these posts. The stamp set is a 6" x 8", is sold alone and is also called Joyful Season. There are a set of dies as well (although all of my images are fussy cut as I didn't have the die).
I love vintage Christmas papers, especially ones of Santa, so I had to use this paper on a card. It fit perfectly on the front of this slim-line card. I cut the paper on the very edge so I could block as much of the writing on the paper as possible (you can only see one little bit of the red letters half way down). I die-cut a frame from red glitter paper using the SSS Slimline Scallop Frame dies. I just LOVE that red glitter frame around Santa. I attached that to a white card base.
I embossed the sentiment from the Joyful Season stamp set (definitely Kristina Werner lettering!) using a WOW embossing powder I had in my stash that I can't find on the SSS website now. It is a red glitter with gold flecks, so it looked perfect on this card. I made a small slit on the bottom in the fold of the card and I put some Lawn Fawn Sweetheart Twine in it and tied a bow on the bottom of the card. I added some Sparkling Clear Sequins around the bow/sentiment. This is a really simple card for me as I wanted Santa to be the star!
CARD 2:
This was my favorite card of the 5. I used my "random stamping" technique on this one. I stamped the images from the stamp set in Intense Black Ink on a piece of white cardstock. I try to arrange them in a pattern like a puzzle, which I love to do so it is a fun technique! I die-cut the piece with the largest frame in the A2 Thin Frame Dies. I colored the images in with colored pencils.
I used the MFT A2 Frame Dies for the sentiment. I die-cut the frame from both white cardstock and red cardstock (the one in the kit). I also die-cut a frame from the SSS A2 Thin Frame Dies from white cardstock that fit perfectly over the other frame. I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set with Ranger Carnation Red embossing powder - this is a dark red. I attached all of these to the top of the card and added a stamped image of the leaves and berries to the top corner. I used the Glossy Accents in the kit on top of the berries and added some Sparkling Clear Sequins.
CARD 3:
This was the last card I made, so I got a bit creative and crazy on this one trying to use all of the contents of the kit to some extent! I die-cut a piece of white cardstock with the largest A2 Thin Frame Die. I mounted that on a red card base using the red cardstock in the kit. I then die-cut two of the candy cane heart dies from white and red cardstock. I attached them all together and then cut the hearts apart so they were individual. I cut the Santa out of one of the papers in the kit.
I stamped the large stamp with black ink on white cardstock and colored them in with colored pencils. I cut around the edges and attached that to the bottom of the card. I trimmed the bottom off of the four candy canes and attached them to the top of the card. I used some of the red velvet ribbon in the kit around the center of the card. I also tied some red/white twine below that. I stamped Merry Christmas from the stamp set with black ink on white cardstock bending it slightly so it was curved. I then cut it out in the shape of a little banner. I attached the Santa I cut from the paper in the center of the candy-canes with foam tape behind him. I then attached the banner with the sentiment as if he was holding it.
CARD 4:
I made another slim-line card this time! I die-cut the piece of striped paper in the kit with the largest rectangle from the Slimline Nested Rectangle dies. I die-cut a frame from red cardstock with the Slimline Scallop Frame dies. I attached those to the front of a cream card base. I stamped the large grouping stamp on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored it in with colored pencils. I cut around the edges and attached that over the striped paper.
I die-cut the Santa from one of the papers with the SSS Thin Circle Frame Dies. I attached it with the frame on the right side of the card. I die-cut a strip of one of the lightest papers from the kit with the largest SSS Sentiment Label Dies. I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set with Ranger Carnation Red embossing powder. I added some Autumn Mix sequins around the card to finish it.
CARD 5:
I cut this paper with the Santa in his sleigh by cutting him off first and then turning the leftover paper over and piecing together pieces to fill in the extra areas on a white cardstock piece. I then ran that through the A2 Thin Frame die and attached it to a red card base. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on the sleigh with first black ink and then Lawn Fawn Doe ink so it was a little less black and looked more vintage.
I stamped the other two images from the stamp set on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I cut them out and attached them to the right side of the sentiment. I die-cut Merry Christmas from the CZ Tri-color Sentiment Strips using the SSS Sentiment Label Dies. I used some Red Berry Nuvo drops around the card and some sparkling clear sequins to finish it.
I hope you like this new holiday kit called Joyful Season and most importantly, let's hope we all HAVE a joyful season! Some other interesting news is there will be a Special Edition holiday card kit from SSS coming out in a few days and I'll be back soon with a post using that one! Off to make some more cards! haha Suzy

You are inspiring. These cards are great! Now I need the slimline scallop die 😊 My favorite is the random stamping one, too. Love it. ❤️
