Today I have a card to share with you using my favorite holiday stamp set I've seen this year. It is by My Favorite Things and is called Holiday Penguins. I always love penguins, but these are just the PERFECT penguins. I also love the tree and the little candy canes and ornaments that come with the set. Here is an image:
Of course with all of these cute little penguins, I had to create a slim-line card so I had more "real-estate".
First, I made the sky which is a little different for me. I started by using my SSS Blender Brushes to apply Distress Oxide Inks on a piece of 3.5" x 8.5" Ranger Watercolor Paper. I used Black Soot on the edges, then Chipped Saphire, and then Wilted Violet on the inside. I mixed all of the colors as I went to keep it as smooth as possible. I then went a little too crazy with my "flicking"! I used water first which removes the color. Then I flicked on some white acrylic paint. Next, I mixed some Meteorite Shimmer Powder with water and flicked some of that on. Last, I applied some Night Sky Nuvo Glitter Drops and Glossy White Nuvo Drops. I made three snow banks with the MFT Stitched Slim-line Snow Drift dies.
I stamped all of the images from the Holiday Penguin stamp set with SSS Intense Black Ink. I always use this ink because it works with whatever medium I decide to color with - watercolor, copics, or pencils. I colored these in with colored pencils. I always stamp the little accessories that go with a set multiple times and I was glad I did as I used every single one! I arranged all of the stamped images over the hills and used foam tape behind some of them.
I used my Nuvo Glitter Drops over so many parts of the scene in my three colors: Sherbet Shimmer, Blue Lagoon, and Lilac Whisper. I used Silver Moondust on the stars. I used Morning Dew over the candy canes since it just adds a clear gloss. I added some additional snow on the ground and tree with Glossy White drops. It looks like a piece of my background snow got on the card under the penguins foot! I stamped the sentiment with SSS Intense Black Ink. I'm happy with this card, but did I overdue it on the sky? I need more practice on these type of skies as so many girls on IG do amazing ones!
Thanks for visiting today. What is your favorite holiday stamp set this season? Have a great weekend friends! Suzy
