Today is the My Favorite Things November 2020 release. I have two slim-line cards to share with you. It seems like I am making more and more slim-line designs, but it is because I can fit so many more images on cards. I hope you like them too! It's nice to know they fit in standard size envelopes, so they are easily mailable!
MFT had two sets that really spoke to me that I worked with. The first is called "Ice Princess and Friends" because I wanted to make a card for my grand-daughter with it as she loves everything princess. The second is the Stacey Yacula stamp set called "Frost-Loving Friends" because I love every stamp set she makes! Here are my two cards:
I made the background of this card using the MFT Stitched Slimline Snowdrifts dies for the two hillsides. I cut two pieces of 3.5" x 8.5" white cardstock. I die-cut the two hills off one as it was the perfect size for the two hills. I used the new Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink for the first time. I didn't realize it was such a pretty color! I have a friend who makes the most beautiful cards - Nicky Meek on Instagram. She often uses this color with deep red, so she inspired me to try it. I used my new Blender Brushes from SSS to apply it really lightly to the top for the sky and to the top edges of the two hillsides. I used a very light touch for the first time in my life!
I stamped the images from the Ice Princess and Friends stamp set on white cardstock with MFT Natural ink, my go to ink for all my stamping since I prefer the looks of no-lines. I colored them in with colored pencils. One interesting thing to note. I had first colored their dresses pink, purple, and blue. Then I decided to go with deep red after seeing some of Nicky's cards. So I used the same color red colored pencil over the three colors and they all look completely different. I was happy I was able to cover the original color, but I also realized it might be good to use a different base coat under a color to get a different variation of it. The one above was my favorite shade and it was colored over blue. I used a white Uniball gel pen over all of the fur on the dresses. I colored the hills with gray Copic markers.
I used Silver Embossing Powder by Tonic for the greeting on the bottom right side of the card and for some snowflakes. I used some Diamond Stickles over the snow on the hills and castle and on the edges of my hills. I applied some white "snow" with the end of a paintbrush dipped into white acrylic paint (I like doing it this way so I can control where the drops go rather than flicking it). I also put some of the Stickles drops over some of the white paint drops. I hope I did Nicky proud with this card!
I used the background stamps in the Stacey Yacula stamp called "Frost Loving Friends" stamped with MFT Natural Ink on a piece of white cardstock cut to be 3.5" x 8.5". I stamped the hill with trees stamp twice so I had trees on both sides of my card. I stamped the smaller hill with little green sprouts (I think!) on the two sides of the snowy area. I colored the sky with Copic markers.
I stamped the images on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink (every.single.time) and colored them in with colored pencils again. I like using pencils on critters because I feel like it makes them look furry. I die-cut them out and attached them in a scene over the background.
I dipped the end of a paintbrush in white acrylic paint again and dabbed it on the background as snow. I stamped the sentiment with black ink on the bottom of the crd.
Thank you for visiting my blog today!!! You can see the entire MFT New Release Here. I hope you enjoyed these two cards using the Ice Princess and Friends stamp set and the Frost-Loving Friends stamp set. Have a great day! xoxo suzy
These are adorable! I just know I'm going to end up with those princesses for my new granddaughter, and Stacey's designs are a favorite of mine. Thank you for the inspiration.

Are you kidding? Ms. Nicky will cherish this forever! Your coloring is really fun. I'm not a great flicker either so will try your way. Last card I flicked a blob covered the focal image, ugh. These are both great cards, yup love the snow. These MFT stamps are wonderful in this release!
