I wanted to make a card with this stamp set when it came out (one year ago? two years ago? not even sure!), but I never did. So I pulled it out today to use. I hate it when I have a stamp set I never used! Right?!?!!? Here is an image of the Winter Hugs stamp set:
With all the little cute images, I thought a slim-line design would be perfect!
I used the MFT Stitched Slim-line Snow Drift dies for the snow. I just bought them and I love how they look! I die-cut them from Lawn Fawn Pixie Dust sparkle paper - isn't it so pretty? I used to rub glitter glue all over my snow until I discovered this paper! I used two colors of ink for the sky - Stormy Sky Distress Ink on the edges and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink on the inside. I don't usually mix Distress and Distress Oxide Inks, but I realized my Tumbled Glass Distress Ink was dry - ooops. Well, I'm happy to report that they actually work really well together! I layered the two pieces of glitter paper along the bottom.
I embossed the swirly design, the two snowflakes, and the small snow grouping stamps from the Winter Hugs stamp set around the background with WOW Cloud 9 embossing powder. It's a very pretty glittery silver. Then I went crazy adding all kinds of other snow: Glossy White Nuvo Drops, Frosted Lace Stickles, white acrylic paint droplets, and Studio Katia iridescent bubbles. I embossed the sentiment using Ranger Hot Pink embossing powder.
And I finally get to the stamp set images! I stamped them all with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock and colored them in with colored pencils. I used some jewel and glitter Nuvo drops over some of the clothing items. I also used a silver glitter pen on the sled and skates.
I now challenge anyone who is reading this post to get out your holiday stamp sets from seasons past and make a card with one. And if you make it a slim-line card, you might just find the stamps work even better in that larger size! Thanks for visiting!!! suzy
