I made this card today to share with you and then I realized the stamp set I used called Festive Trees is no longer sold at SSS! I feel bad showing a card with a retired stamp set. It's only 2 years old, so maybe some of you have it. Let's hope! I also used the brand new Large Written Merry Christmas die as you know I love mixing the old with the new to get more use out of my products. I have a basket of all of my Christmas stamps from the past and I bring them out each year to re-use my favorites.
I used a lot of Shimmer Powders for this card. I started with a piece of watercolor paper cut to the size of a slim-line card which is 3.5" x 8.5". I painted the edges of it with Cherry Bomb Shimmer Powder (only use a little powder with lots of water as this color is very intense). Next, I painted a smaller piece die-cut with the Slimline Scallop Frame dies (I used the inside portion of the frame). For this one I used Blue Blitz shimmer powder again with lots of water and very little color as it is intense. I splattered some on the paper as well. In-between these two pieces, I die-cut the Detail Ringlet Plate die twice from white cardstock. I trimmed the pieces to fit on the slim-line card and matched the pattern as best as I could so it wouldn't show. I actually removed the small line where they joined with Photoshop, so I technically cheated. But I'm a perfectionist and it didn't look bad.
I layered these three pieces for the background of the card. Next, I die-cut the Large Merry Christmas Die from watercolor paper and I painted the outside piece with Lilac Waterfall and Cherry Bomb shimmer powders. I die-cut the words from white cardstock and from Lawn Fawn Pixie Dust cardstock. I layered them and attached them over the frame in the center of the blue piece.
I stamped the four trees from the Festive Trees stamp set with black ink and I colored them in with colored pencils. I used Glitter Nuvo Drops over the trees to add a lot of shimmer since this is a Christmas card. I used several Sparkling Clear sequins around the card to finish it.
I am really enjoying this larger canvas of slim-line cards to make holiday cards. I usually use it for critters and scenes, but it also works well for cards where you just need more real estate to fit everything on! I love that SSS has come out with all these colored slim-line envelopes too making it easy for us to mail them! Thanks for visiting today and I hope you all have a great weekend! Suzy
