Today I have another Christmas card to share with you using a combo of an older stamp with some new stamps and dies from the latest SSS Make Merry release. Here is the main stamp I am using called Outline Christmas Bulbs cling stamp:
I think this one was released 2 Christmas seasons ago. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to color it with colored pencils. I even stamped it and started, but never finished! I found it in my stash and decided to finish it. Now if I hadn't started it with pencils, I think I would have used Copics because a) they are quicker and b) they are brighter. Here is an image of my card:
I stamped the Outline Christmas Bulb background stamp with SSS Intense Black Ink and then die-cut it with the A2 Frame Die. I then colored it in with colored pencils and it only took me 2 years! I colored the top of the bulbs with a silver uniball pen. I mounted it on a mauve colored cardstock. I covered the bulbs with Nuvo Crystal Glaze. Someone left me a blog comment once about how good this product is so I tried it and love it. It is more dimensional than Ranger Glossy Accents. It takes a while to dry though. You also have to keep it on a very flat surface as because it goes on so thick it will move which you can see happened on a couple of my bulbs.
I embossed a sentiment from the Holiday Sparkle Greetings stamp set with Cactus Flower embossing powder. I tried stamping and then die-cutting and die-cutting and then stamping the sentiments and the latter definitely worked better. It is hard to get the die over the sentiment since it is a backed die (no openings). I die-cut the word first, then I put tape rolled up behind it and then taped the edge of that tape down so it wouldn't move. That kept the die flat while I stamped it. The only reason I'm giving so much detail is it took me 3 times to do it right haha. I attached that to the top of the card and then added a sub-greeting with a new set of sentiment strips that will be in the next release (sneak peek here!). I also added some sparking clear sequins.
I hope you enjoyed this card. I'll be back tomorrow with a "one stamp, five ways" post using the brand new Make Merry stamp set called Center Cut Holiday Floral. Thank you so much for visiting! Suzy
