Today is the release of the Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit called Big Thanks and it's gorgeous! It combines my favorite Fall color theme: wine, teal, and orange. I used the 6" x 8" stamp also called Big Thanks in the kit for my "one stamp, five ways" post today and it is sold alone as well. I also used quite a bit of the paper as it is LOVELY! (And I never use that word haha). Here is an image of the kit:
I die-cut the orange paper from the kit with the largest SSS A2 frame die (I use that die for almost every card I make now and sometimes I use the frame, but usually I just do it to get the perfect card that is sized perfect to show 1/8" cardstock around it from the card base). I attached that to a white card base. I embossed the large "thanks" on the top with white embossing powder.
I stamped the large floral grouping from the Big Thanks stamp set on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and I colored it in with Copic markers. I used a white Uniball to add some lines and cover my mistakes (I always do that!). I added some of the sequins in the kit (love that I now have the little 3mm gold ones!). I also used some Metallic Copper Penny Nuvo drops in the centers of the flowers and around the bouquet.
CARD 2:
I die-cut the orange paper (there are 2 pieces of each paper which is awesome!) and the pumpkin paper with the SSS A2 largest frame die. I cut them both to be the size they are so the cut edges were hidden under the words. I die-cut the sheet of pre-printed words with the smallest Sentiment Label die. That die works perfect with these pre-printed sheets. This time though I die-cut the strip of words below this block and above this block so I could use it all together. That way my block of words has a bevelled edge on both edges. I attached that over the two papers where they joined.
I stamped the flower grouping on a piece of watercolor paper to color with my Karin Markers and I didn't like how some of it turned out, so I cut pieces off of it. I cut this flower out of the group, but there is also a little larger single flower in the set which would make more sense to use! I painted it with my new Karin Brushmarkers. I placed that on the top of the card trying to cover some of the words, but not any that would leave it not making sense (if that makes sense haha). I added some of the gold sequins from the kit again and some Metallic Copper Penny Nuvo drops in the center of the flower. Isn't that pumpkin paper so cute?!?!?!
CARD 3:
I again die-cut this paper from the kit with the SSS A2 frame die. I attached that to a white card base and I die-cut an oval as well using the SSS Nested Oval dies. I attached that to the center of the paper. I die-cut a strip of the same paper with one of the SSS Sentiment Strip dies and then embossed the sentiment from the stamp set with white embossing powder in the center.
I stamped the floral grouping stamp twice on watercolor paper with MFT Natural Ink and then I painted them with my Karin markers. They give you such saturated colors. I had trouble getting lines the right thickness on the leaves and stems, so I went back over them with a colored pencil. I cut around them (off the bouquet) and attached them over the oval. I attached the sentiment strip in between them. I added some of the gold sequins. By the way, if you want to match this wine color, the Burgundy Karin brush marker is a dead on match! I struggle with the markers and really messed up the bottom yellow flower. There is definitely a learning curve with how to get the best results with these markers.
CARD 4:
For this card, I again die-cut the teal paper with the largest A2 frame die, but I actually USED the frame as well die-cut from the wine paper (left over from the last card). I embossed the large "thanks" stamp over and over on the front of the paper with WOW Misty Sky embossing powder. It barely shows, but you CAN see my pencil marks that I didn't erase!
I embossed a few of the stamps with Ranger Turquoise embossing powder and cut them out, but I didn't use any of them except the leaves! I didn't end up using the bird in the stamp set at all on my cards, so looks like I'll have to make more cards with this kit! I stamped the three flowers on white cardstock with MFT Natural ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I attached them to the bottom of the card and then added the blue embossed leaves on each side. I used one of the preprinted sentiments die-cut with the SSS Sentiment Strip dies and then used the next size up to die-cut one out of the wine paper. I layered them and attached to the middle of the two smaller flowers. I added some of the gold sequins. Time consuming card for sure!
CARD 5:
I die-cut a piece of white cardstock with the largest die from the SSS Slimline Nested Rectangle die (this is another constantly used dies!). I stamped the large bouquet from the Big Thanks stamp set on the right side of this piece. I then covered up the stamped image and restamped it going the other direction. I normally would have created a mask, but I just tore a piece of scrap paper to fit over the flower. I used MFT Natural Ink and then colored it in with colored pencils.
I used a preprinted sentiment strip and the cardstock in the kit for the card base and die-cut one size larger with the SSS Sentiment Labels to frame the words. I added a bunch of the gold sequins and you can see I'm really loving those little ones! I had a yellow slim-line envelope from the last kit I think and it matched the card perfectly. Coloring with colored pencils IS time-consuming, but I find it to be the most fun of all coloring techniques and I feel like they are the easiest to use because they have fine tips!
That's it - which is your favorite? I like number 5 the best. Simple, but shows off the stamp set so well. The kit can be purchased HERE or you can purchase the stamp set separately HERE. I hope you enjoyed this blog post and thank you so much for visiting! I will be posting 4 times a week for Simon now and 1 of those will be a "one stamp five ways" post each week. If you are interested in receiving an email when I post, just sign up on the top left. Thank you! Suzy

I also love that you used the printed paper! That is soooo very helpful to see how that can be used.
