I really love today's post and I worked so hard on it, so I hope you like it too. I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the SSS Center Cut Holiday Floral cling stamp from the Make Merry release. Here is an image:
I picked this stamp because I really wanted to color it and I liked how the circle in the middle could be used or not used. But what I wasn't prepared for is how long it would take me to color it 5 times! At least my husband had a lot of sports on this weekend, so he didn't mind that I colored the entire weekend! Here are my five cards. I cannot decide which is my favorite this time, so tell me if you like one the most.
CARD 1:
I used a nice watercolor paper for this one - Arches. I stamped it with MFT Natural Ink and used my Daniel Smith watercolors to paint it. I haven't pulled them out for a while as I've been using my Karin Brushmarkers more, but I wanted to focus on really painting it good. I die-cut the piece with the SSS A2 Frame dies. This time I actually USED the frame instead of just the inside piece. I attached both to a cream card base. I flicked gold and white paint all over it using the Zig Starry Nights watercolor paint set. This is one of my favorite things I've ever purchased for card making. It has 5 different shades of gold and one pearl color that are rather opaque when you wet them. I love flicking them on my holiday cards.
I used 2 of the SSS Stitched Circle dies as the smaller one fits around the center of this stamp perfectly. I die-cut the larger one out of vellum and attached that first. Then I embossed the center of the other center cut stamp in this release called Center Cut Snowflake. I love how these circles are interchangeable. I embossed it with SSS Antique Gold embossing powder and attached it over the vellum. I added some PPP gold jewels.
CARD 2:
I couldn't pick a favorite card, but this one is definitely my least favorite! I might not like the Warm Hugs in the middle or maybe it just didn't photograph very well. It looked beautiful before I made it into a card though! I used Arches watercolor paper (because Ranger doesn't work well with the Karin markers). I embossed part of the design on the top and the bottom using Antique Gold Embossing Powder. Then I also embossed some of the little sprigs on both sides. I painted it in with Karin Brushmarkers. They are so fun to use and I find that they work best/easiest when I emboss the design. Sometimes they are hard to keep inside the lines when I do no-line stamping with them. ! I also used them to add some color to the card base. I flicked LOTS of the Zig Starry Night paints on it.
I die-cut the Warm Hugs die from gold glitter paper and put that in the center of the card. I used foam tape behind this piece to attach it to a cream card base. I added some Autumn Mix sequins from the last SSS card kit around the sentiment.
CARD 3:
I wasn't sure how this one would turn out, but I ended up loving it! This is the first time I've tried pencils on black cardstock. I stamped the image with SSS white ink and let it dry. I then colored it with colored pencils. I primarily used Luminance pencils by Caran d'Ache. I finally realized why these pencils are over $4 each - they work beautifully on dark cardstock. None of my other pencils worked as well. Again, I flicked a lot of the Zig Starry Nights paints over this piece. I die-cut it with the A2 Frame die and attached it to a white card base.
I die-cut a circle using the SSS Stitched Circle dies for the center piece and embossed the sentiment on it with Antique Gold embossing powder. I attached it with foam tape underneath. I added some sparkling clear sequins to finish the card.
CARD 4:
This is another card that was prettier in real life. I die-cut a piece of white cardstock with the A2 frame dies using the second largest one so it is smaller. I stamped the stamp using MFT Natural Ink. I colored it in with colored pencils. I attached a piece of vellum to the card base and then attached this piece over it with foam tape beneath it.
I embossed the sentiment with Ranger Teal Tinsel embossing powder - isn't it so pretty? I used a different circle die and then realized it was too small for the circle on the card, so I switched to the SSS Stitched Circle dies after this one. I added some little drops of Aquatic Mist Nuvo Glitter Drops and also some sparkling clear sequins.
CARD 5:
Of course I had to make a slim-line card! I cut a piece of cardstock to be 3.5" x 8.5". I stamped part of the design along the top edge 3 times with SSS Intense black ink. I colored it in with Copic markers. I added some white Uniball on the tips of each flower. I die-cut this piece with the largest die in the SSS Slimline Nested Rectangle dies. I attached it to a Lawn Fawn Guava card base.
I had a scrap piece of red watercolored paper (I have all different colors to use for cards all ready to go) and I die-cut the Slimline Christmas die out of that. I also die-cut it out of white cardstock. I attached it to the bottom of the card. I embossed the word Merry from the new Holiday Sparkle Greetings stamp set and die-cut it with the matching dies. I used Ranger Carnation Red embossing powder. I attached that above the word Christmas.
I finished the card with some PPP sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment. It was hard not to add some Nuvo drops all over it, but I stopped myself and kept this one fairly simple. I try.
I would love to hear which card(s) you liked from this set. I was so happy that I could think of 5 ways to use this Holiday Floral cling stamp! I actually had another idea where I was going to make the center circle into a shaker card, but I didn't get time for that one. It would work great for that though and look so pretty with a bunch of gold or sparkling clear sequins in the center. Thanks for visiting today. There is a new SSS release coming on November 6th in case you didn't know and want to save your money for it! Suzy
Wow! I just discovered your blog, looking for Distress inks blending hints, and I've gotta say, I am crazy about the colored pencil-on-black card! Absolutely gorgeous!
