Today I have a "One Stamp, 3 Coloring Methods" post using the SSS Sunflower Background Stamp. Here is an image of the stamp which was part of the STAMPtember product release:
When I saw this stamp, I couldn't wait to color it. I saved it for this post series so I could color it THREE TIMES WHOOOPEEE! I used my usual favorite 3 coloring tools - colored pencils, Copic markers, and watercolors (specifically Karin Brushmarkers). Here is an image of the 3 colored together:
Here are the three shown alone in photos:
Which do you prefer? I think for this stamp, I like the Copic Markers the best. The colors are the most intense. I also like how the flower centers turned out on that one. I now will show these 3 made into cards with the same Clean Line Gratitude stamp set used for all 3 of their greetings with directions and supplies used for each.
I stamped the stamp set with MFT Natural Ink and colored it in with a mix of colored pencils: Caran d'Ache Luminance and Pablo, Prismacolor, and Faber Castelle Polychromos. I'll do a blog post soon on what I like about each one. You definitely get the softest look with pencils, but they also take the longest to color with. I used the SSS A2 frame die and mounted it on a green card base. I embossed the sentiment from the CZ Clean Line Gratitude Stamp Set with Ranger Leaf Green embossing powder. I added some SSS Autumn Mix sequins.
I stamped this one with MFT Natural Ink again and colored it in with Copic Markers. I used the marker tip to add dots in the center of the flowers one color darker than what I colored that portion with. I again die-cut this piece with the SSS A2 frame die. I used Antique Gold embossing powder with the CZ Clean Line Gratitude stamp set and Leaf Green embossing powder for the sub-greeting.
I embossed the stamp set on Arches watercolor paper with Antique Gold embossing powder. I painted it in with Karin Brushmarkers. I really enjoy using them with embossed images as sometimes they run outside of the lines and with embossing they can't. I used Antique Gold embossing powder for the sentiment also.
So what do you think? Do you like one coloring method over another? As I said colored pencils take the longest by far (which makes me rethink why I use them all the time), Copics give me the most depth and the most intense color. Karin Brushmarker were the most fun to work with and I think they have a nice amount of color intensity as well.
Thank you for visiting today. I'll be back tomorrow with some holiday cards. Have a great week friends! Suzy
